i been thinking bout this whole "you're going to hell" thang... and i come up with that hell may not be as bad as we think... i mean lucifer was ousted from heaven becuase he no longer wantd to serve... he wanted to reign... well in all the human-like qualities christians identify with... how about jealousy? it may be possible that in his love of a humanistic life also does he simulate human behavior! and when we envy someone or something we try to "one up" it so why should we not think hell is as good or not better than heaven? is it not possible that lucifer being the moderator of sin...has created a place filled with everything you could possibly want? that is if you can admit you enjoy sin!

Haha reminds me of an interesting thing I read about the garden of eden story, how god lied, whereas lucifer kept his word... Keep in mind, lucifer is 'the bringer of light' or so...

Then wouldn't it also be hard to picture a "god" up above us watching over us 24 hours a day?

I'd rather go to hell, where the *good* music is played :H
Eternal damnation wouldn't be that bad, if The Stones were down there (and you know they will be :D )

All the interesting guys will be in hell: Lenin, Marx, Hitler, Morrison, Frank Zappa (perhaps he is now the fuel for hell), Darwin and etc. Heaven must be a boring place.

    Here's a thought:

"Would Satan really want to torture you for doing his evil work? Surely he would give you a pat on the back and a pint of cold beer, not tie you to a rock and attack you with a cheesegrater. What's he going to say? "Aha! Right, you gave in to temptation and lived a life of Sin, just like I wanted you to. As punishment for disobeying God, and doing my work instead, I'm... erm... going to torture you... er... Hang on a minute.... Have I got that right?"

Surely we know our scripture...surely. No? ffs.

Look into the bible, as far and as deep and into every tiny corner, and tell me firstly what is the lake of fire, what happens there, and who lucifer actually is. I'll shortcut this for you with this handy tip: Jesus was talking about the apocalypse in his ramblings about the time of judgement. Punishment for sinners and absolution for those who followed their religion was all related to the apocalypse. I'll repeat again- jesus was an essene- an apocalyptic jew. He believes he would cause the apocalypse and everyone would be judged.

Hell is from popular culture. It was what got bums on seats in church. Lucifer was to guard over the lake of fire ('hell') because he deserved to be there, and as the highest ranking being he would be in charge. Only after the apocalypse would lucifer and 'evil' souls actually go to the lake of fire. Thus, until the apocalypse, there is no hell. Further, the point of the lake of fire was to trap souls there. Nothing about punishment and destruction.

I'm sorry if there are minor errors in the above statement, but the message remains the same. Hell is as christian as the pedophile priests- not supported by scripture, and used to achieve one groups means, while the other group is forced into submission via fear.

exactly! it's also hard for me to picture some "god" above us watching over us, knowing what we're thinking before we say it, and made us in 7 days...but then, its like...where did we come from??yeah, u can say our parents. but then where did they come from? matter of fact, where did anything come from? inless u believe in something, then its like, kinda scary cause we confused and hoppless. and we dont feel secure, i envy all who belives in something..ENVY I SAY! :p (yeah, ima nut, i know..:D )

Why it really matters where we came from is beyond me... I don't care and have no intention to start wondering about it anytime soon. Is it important? No. Think about the future, don't dwell on the past, nothing will ever get done that way.

basically when i posted this thread it was to explore the minds of the fearful christian... however none of them had the balls to take a stand and correct me, challenge my theory or even post verses that supports their fears of such a place! wonder why that is? i bet right now there are christians questionng their faith simply on the responses of the non christians....funy how with christians when there is something with a positive inference it is the glory of god... but get a negative inference and it becomes the will of satan... a measly angel who wanted more... being no god himself i wonder how it is possible for him to gain dominion over the unjust? or is it an example that if you choose to walk your own path...and no longer follow the teachings of christ and his 12 homies, you become in essence the equivalent of god? shyt... i dunno... i do know this... christians spend entirely to much of there lives living in fear of a god who is supposed to be so loving and merciful... but yet he destroys planets on large scales( whenever the world doesnt listen to him) and cities on a smalller scale.... of which we only know about in text as it is not practiced anymore...further more once you get into the gospels... jesus is quoted often times telling you not to do as the old testament has taught you but instead as he teaches... the son not agreeing with the father? but he is supposed to be the voice of the father... i guess basically the christians can not keep coming to the discussion table with half a cup of explanantions, preaching that if you have "faith" that the cup is half full you will be ok... but if you bother to question said cup and enquire as to why the other half is empty, then we have this convienant place called hell for you... i seem to know of a couple of other cats that had something to say about about what would happen to you if you didnt believe in the vision, Stalin, Hitler, king james, henry the 6th, alexander... these guys would buy you a first class ticket to hell... on the house... then you got jim jones, and david koresh... who only took there disciples with them but took lives just the same in the name of religion.... if there is a hell im going.... by choice cuz an existence anywhere away from simple minded, easy to lead masses of non independent thinking souls wold be a hell itself... oh shyt... this means my hell would in return be your heaven! wtf.... catch 22... it a lose lose situation...
however my body will be dead and quite frankly there is not a god, nor entiety that can torture me any more than my existance as a man of color in american with no acceptance from any social group.... so hell in its theory is a far better concept than life on earth as a christian.... the only group in the world that never has to accept responsibility for the mental, emotional, and spiritual destruction of man... and to think you can get all of that for a small sum of only 10 percent of everything you make... so in closing i will say this... jehovah has alot of steppin up to do... his hmo cant possibly compete with the full benefits packages of lucifer.... funny thing is in all of the evil doings of lucifer... never has there been an endoctrination of his followers.... so i guess to be a devil worshipper( in relations to christians) all you have to do is not believe in their christ!( refer to 10 commandments) so i guess allah, buddah, confucous, ghandi, dahli lama.... all devils and now you miserable lifeless pathetic fucks can add willpower to the list....the only god i serve is this earth... she has no name but provides for me every breath i take, every morsel of food i digest, and every sunrise or sunset i enjoy.... man and to think ellohim thinks he can offer better than that!

Hey, how about paragraph form next time there chief, that was a pain in the ass to read.

Really what motivation would the Devil have to torture me anyway? Assuming that the hypothetical 'me' disobeyed God's moral directives and ended up in 'Hell' why would the Devil torture me for doing what he wanted? Does not seem logical. If anything I will be rewarded.

willpower needs a little will to power.

I'm not sure about this but some years ago I read Dante's 'Inferno' and the idea he gives is that the devils in hell have no choice but to torment the souls of the dammned. Just like fire burns and wind blows, that is their function.

But I am very dubious as to whether such a place exists - it seems to me that hell is just a symbol for the hell that humans create here on earth sometimes.

Yeah, i agree, but dont lose sight of the idea that the future hasn't happened yet, so the present is, to me, the top priority. Whatever you are doing now, whoever you are with now, and wherever you are now, is the most important thing in life.
Hell, I was 11 when I scoffed at its existence, and still do not believe in it other than that we make life on earth our own hell, or heaven.

If it does exist, it would likely have booze, drugs, excessive materialistic things like hot cars and huge homes, exotic dancers, gambling, over the top partying,
    escort services, etc.
Hmmmmmmmmm, sounds a lot like Vegas.
I am sure to be going there if the Christians are right, which sounds good to me.
Heaven, my view, a huge library filled with elderly sages reading 1000 page theological treatises.
    dull.......

Haha, I think this is what I meant to write. I don't care much about the far future either, I'm just worried about today and the near future.

Don't forget harp music, 24 hours a day
