i have a question. now, if there is a heaven, why would you want to go to it? i was thinking about it, and i realized why heaven would not be that great. Heaven is supposedly a caring, loving place, where everything is perfect, and you get to bask in god's great love. which sounds great, but for eternity? I mean, without hate, how can you have love? without good, how can you have bad? If heaven is perfect, the perfection will become normal for you, and it will no longer be heaven. it will become another earth. Another example would be: I'm from colorado. during the winter, all i want is the sun to come out. But when it does, it gets all hot, and all i want is for it to be cold. no matter how great something is, if you get it all the time, it eventually becomes normal, and it looses it's effect.
Precisely. Heaven is drugs. Heaven is also on Earth, for a limited time, until our governments eradicate and commercialize heaven.
You are drugged up in heaven. LOL...or at least God would create for you this bliss state so that you are always content, always beyond the human condition.
ok, fair enough. i'm not denying that heaven would wonderful. at least at first. but, would that state of bliss eventually loose it's effect? that feeling of bliss would eventually become normal for you.
but would time have an affect, its a moment of entire bliss and peace outside of your normal human feelings and knowings peace, love and sunflowers
First, I think "heaven" (whatever the hell that is...) is a timeless union with God. It's not like you walking around, sitting there looking at god. You unite with him. It's like a neverending orgasm. What could be better than unifying with God? I mean, if God is the highest good, the highest anything, it's obviously the best thing ever. But heaven is eternal, meaning time does not exist. I picture it like a video tape; you are a character on the tape, and in order to do anything, the tape must be played (time). God is the person handling the tape. He is outside of time. Thus, heaven would not become boring, it would not become anything, because "becoming" requires time.
First of all we should realize that there is a differance between the way things are here on earth, and the way things will be. So our perception of eternity is a hard concept to think about, because we are limited to time. When we die, time won't exist. There will be no need for it. In a similiar way, when we get to heaven, we will not be unsatisfied with everything. When adam and eve ate the fruit, we all got screwed. Thus, we have things in our nature, like enjoying something for a while, and then tiring of it. Also, I believe heaven will be something like what Eden was supposed to be. I think there will be streams and rivers, lakes, hills, and all that awesome stuff. I don't really have any basis on this view, but then again no one else does on their views either. But anyway, the reason that I don't think we will be unsatisfied or become bored is because that is in out human nature which is also bent towards violence and hate.
people are idiots. they think in 'human' terms--5 senses, objectives of flesh. the flesh will end to never be again and humans still try to 'project' humaness beyond that threshold. at best we can say existence after this is an entire different consciousness. if everything created comes from the Great Spirit of God, then we return to God and its just another thing that people have no say over. It is pointless to think abot heaven because people always interject the human condition into...which can't be helped, but that is why I think it is stupid to think about it in the first place.
How about caring about now, the past, and the future, but not worrying about them so much that it interferes with our enjoyment of the present?
