I've run into a bit of an obstacle.

When I start to go into a trance, even a light one, I can feel my pulse in several parts of my body. Not always the same, but usually including my chest, arms, neck, and waist/stomache. To be blunt, it's very very distracting.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get around this, or work with it?

    Congratulations. You're meditating.

    On your pulse.

    Now change the channel.

I would recommend attempting to solve the problem if it really bothers you. Maybe even trying will help you, maybe try and slow down your heart beat. Slow down your breathing and concentrate on slowing down the beats a minute, then when you think you've done your best accept your body.
    Hmm, couple things,
-do you eat before meditatin? whenever i've done this my heartbeat is very loud and strong
-do you get enough exercise during the day? this might slow it down a bit.

It's great you feel your heartbeat throughout your body, so great!!!
should your concentration encompass your heartbeat? Your body will always be present in your life, let your heartbeat talk, what does it tell you? This is a great subject you brought up, what should we do with scattered concentration due to our own bodies. I would recommend yoga to you! hehe, but it does get you more comfortable in your body. Keep it up buddy!
