headwraps and turbans

ok, i'm talking about headwraps, not individual wraps.

does anyone else here wrap their head ever?

i find that it's great when you don't feel like looking at your locks in the mirror during the first few months. also it looks pretty refined if you do it right. i also found it helped mat my locks when it wasn't wrapped too tightly.

 

I have tried it but dont have enough hair for it to look right! I look more like a giant Q-Tip than anything! I plan on experimenting more with wraps once my hair is longer. I think they look really nice on people.

 

I do this loads when I'm doing housework to keep my hair out of the way. I did it before I had dreads though too. I use a sarong, and wrap it like you would a towel then keep twisting and twisting into a bun.

i totally agree with you that it can be pretty refined. I used a long wrap to keep my hair back when at a wedding. just tied it on like a normal headband then around the locks into a low ponytail. I got loads of compliments.

 

i do it when im at the house or wearing a dress .. everyone tells me i look like a 40 yr old black women lol... but i love it but sadly i get yelled at if i wrap my hair up at the salon lol

 

well, I just use my hair to make a turban, but imahugedeadhead on KL made a great video about how to tie your hair up in a scarf... let me try and find a link.

 

Meh, I kinda want to have a hairwrap or turban, but even now I get "randomly" searched at the airport, I don't think a turban would help. ;>>

yes pics! lmao@ mandy as a giant qtip lmao! anyways, i put my stocking cap on and then the wrap over it, it seems to stay better that way. then i just twist like i would a bun. or a "dun bun" as my sweetie calls it lol.

 

everyone knows I love my gypsy/pirate wrap. I don't know where I got it though, just always had it. it seriously matches so much of my stuff.

 

i can't wait to have dreads long enough to wrap up. as it is if i need my hair out of my face i just toss on a bandana like i do every other day. i tried wrapping my hair up in a short scarf and i kinda just looked like... well... some friends decided i looked like a cancer patient. *sigh* so hopefully once my hair dreads up and grows out past the "shrinking" phase i'll he able to pretty up my head with some headscarves

the cancer patient look is tricky. you need to leave a little fringe/bangs peeking out so you don't look totally hairless underneath.
