A president for all of us...a man with his hand out to touch the world...WOW, after the gloom of the last 8 years, the sun has come out. Good for all of us!
YES HE DID! Times may be rough but there's hope now, instead of a climate of fear, division and retribution.
For the first time in my life I actually feel proud to be an American. Wow. I have no more words right now other than: this is incredible.
There is already change in the air. A sense of hope and unity. Something the republicans don't apparently understand.
I'm not here to dash your hopes, but don't forget that he hasn't said anything of any real substance. He's played his cards perfectly and sure does know how to give a speech, but I wont be sold until I see evidence of so called change. I want to feel hope, and allowing myself to feel it makes me feel a little better. The realist side of myself sees that hes just another politician, up behind a podium talking shit, beautiful shit, but it's still shit until there's substance to back it up. I did vote for him though, even though I didn't want to vote at all because like many I don't even believe true change is possible without a complete collapse of the current structure.
for many years now, especialy the last 8 i many of us fely more shame then pride, hell most of the time i'd only considered myself a citizen of 1 thing..earth..i'd always felt shame at what this countryhas been doing to the world as a whole..sure there had been momments when we'd redeem ourselves and do alittle good but overall we'd always seemed to be on the wrong track..hope has come hard but finaly i feel we're no longer doomed to make things worse and worse.. i know nothing of economics having never had enough $ to care about such things so never understood economic depression but..i have seen what a depressed country is..and i feel as a country we have been depressed...perhaps suicidaly depressed even.. as a country, we just woke up today fresh finding the hope thats been missing to heal, to come out of our dark place and finaly do what we gotta do to break free from our collective depression and step forward into a new light all over the place today i think people are finaly ready to feel a true sence of pride.. or at the very least hope there is just so much that needs to be done though comming outta such a deep depression as this country hs been in (and we all know depression also hurts all around us so all the worlds been drawn into it too) takes alotta work alotta time and commitment but without hope its impossible to recover from depression also takes support.. withiut the right support the jobs much longer and harder..so lets hope we give up these notions of being devided red and blueand work together as just us whover came up with the idea of painting some states red and others blue everytime we vote did this country a great diservice it split us in 2 and pit us at war with eachother not a war of violence but a struggle for control nonetheless 2 halves fighting against eachother cant even accomplish 1/2 of what a single united whole can do..and arent we suposed to be a united states of america? i dont care if hes a white man black man red man blue man only that hes the right man isnt it time we stop colorcoding everything? sorry i'm rambling but watching ppl so intently warching what color will win really had me thinking. why is it we rally around colors so much? republicans vote republican because theyre on the red team democrats vote blue..we dont even gotta bring race into it weve gone beyond the color of skin to the color of ..what exactly can anyone hinnestly say they agreee 100% with all theyre team has done? yet we voye red blue black white but never green unles u wanna waste your voye we pock ateam and divide ourselves wouldnt the party sustem be more fun if we all just party hardy together as one? so seriusly ..its time we start acting like the united states we're suposed to be..stop dividing pourselves up nby colors religions incomes and ideas and start becomming what we were destined to be..united
The American people can vote either way. Regardless of who is elected, the American people will continue to demand a standard of living that is unsustainable and always sitting comfortably on the horizon. Neither Republican nor Democrat can curb the destructive tendencies associated with this branch of capitalism. The current economic crisis is a warning, yet we're interpreting it as a roadblock... and by extension trying to push it from our path of indefinite consumerism.
Its not about color, but being half black I'm am very happy and proud that I was around to witness the election of the very first black president, that is, as one before me said, incredible. Even if John McCain was black and he won I would be happy that the majority of the country looked beyond race, that shows that even though things suck in America, we have come a long way compared to how things were just a few decades ago. And please, no one try to rain on my parade with some negative comment, just let me be happy
I know it's not about color, but I'm just so happy that my parents and I got to actually see a black President elected in our lifetimes.
aloyya white ppl are pretty happy to see that too..maybe not because of the same reasojns but because it at least shows some minds are capable of opening and the more we open our minds and look past our diffgerences the more united we will become and the more we will get done together
