Hey, just received my little 40.00 cards for converting before February 2009. They said in the beginning cost of the converters would be around 40.00 per box, now it looks like places like Radio Shack stand to make 20.00 per box made in China.

Who won on this deal? I already purchased my tvs, the airwaves were owned by the US citizens now we have to fork out 20.00 bucks a unit to continue to receive broadcasts.

I no longer wonder who's getting rich off this.

Colin Powell's son probably doesn't have to work anymore. This will give a bump to the market.

Just got mine yesterday, and they have a 90 day expiration date, what I am afraid of is that prices will hold high until expiration dates come due.

If HD is the coming standard, and those us using antennas have to convert, why are those on Satelite and Cable paying extra for HD reception right now?

None of this makes any sense... :/

You have to pay for a service you don't want.
    Your purchase frees up airwaves.
The government then makes money off of your purchase by selling those airwaves to companies.

If that's the case, then why can't the government buy conversion boxes for us (or at least for folks under a certain income level), using the money that the companies pay them?
