3 times, resulting in 3 trips to the state hospital, longest stay was a month. In my defense though, the drugs didn't have anything to do with it, I really did discover a global plot, which for some reason chose me to fear most. Must be my big'o brain powers. True story.

I've taken psychedelics in the past, but the three times I've lost my marbles have been due to other reasons.

I eventually managed to retrieve my marbles after those three occasions, and I currently retain all of them.
(You may or may not agree.)

When I was at university, a friend of mine more or less dropped out of his course, stopped going in and started drinking and smoking weed really fucking heavily. One day, around exam season, he sends a text around saying that he has figured out a way to learn everything that you need for your exams instantaneously without the need for revision. Few hours later he sends another saying to delete his last text and tell no-one about it, as it was dangerous and people might want to get hold of the information he had. Later that night he called an ambulance for himself and they found him in the shouting in the street outside his house in the middle of the night. Later on he would cut his arm open trying to escape the hospital by punching through a window.

When the nurse saw him and heard the story, the first thing he said was "he smokes a lot of weed right?". I hadn't smoked weed myself in 3 years as it has a negative impact on my brain as well, but that episode certainly convinced me not to take it up again.

I know someone who lost it on Larium as well, which is an anti-malaria medication. It can have a really bad effect on people who are predisposed to paranoia and depression. Was in Thailand, in a rented flat, there were three of them in this place, traveling around the country. one of them disappeared and they figured he'd gone on to the next town without them, which was wierd, but fair enough as they often parted and met back up at different points. Three days later as they were sitting on the sofa wondering why he hadn't got in touch, this guy rolls out from underneath he sofa saying "I know what you've been saying about me!" he'd been hiding under there all that time convinced they were plotting against him, trying to overhear their plans.

Never had anything too bad myself, although as I say the reaction I have to even the tiniest ammount of weed is extremely severe and I'm pretty sure I'd end up in a real state if i did it regularly.

 

Two times come to mind. The one where I took mushrooms and decided to hop into the city's drainage system, and the one where I took 2cb and decided to write to my parents on their bathroom mirror in toothpaste!

 

You are a brave man. I am terrified to get my wisdom teeth removed, and even if I did have the nads to go for the surgery, I'd only be able to get the top teeth removed. My bottom teeth have nerves running through them, and I'd risk losing feeling in my face if I had them removed.

I did have a couple of friends who got really fried.

One had a fairly promising future, but instead did a bunch of acid and now he's working at a liquor store and hands out with a lot of deadheads.

Another straight up went insane after a particularly strong dose and tried (not very successfully) to harm another friend's sister (at her parents' house, none the less.) Lots of therapy, including institutionalization, and whatnot and now he's a super bike riding/mountain climbing sober granola guy.
