Have you tried to help the world today? I did

Last year I signed up to help the ONE campain( www.one.org) and got an email today saying their two adments going up for vote (I have also sighned many petitions with ONE)

• the Obey-Hyde-Lantos amendment for $100 million -- $50 million for humanitarian aide and food rations for refugees of the genocide in Darfur; and $50 million to fight global HIV/AIDS.
• the Leach-Blumenauer amendment for $250 million to fund safe drinking water and other poverty fighting initiatives.

So I called up and told my representitive to support it. If you wish to do the same 1-800-786-2663



If you want do the same tell then you're with ONE and tell them support it.

 

if i were to help id rather HELP then send cash . like take a plane, do something... most of the time the money you send to organisms will be used on useless things, and might i add, there is about half of the money ppl sent to the UN to help hurricane katrina that is still lying unused in a safe somewhere in their buildings.

sending money to charity is for the image more than anything , i find.

but i might be wrong... all that matters is that you feel good

haha. People would probly think rainforest is the new car model and think they're cutting prices. Although, I will say vandlazing a coporate place is pretty cool.

Joo Kyle - keep up the great work man. I try to do the ONE things as much as I can. Unfortunately it's not enough.

 

I agree... if I were to put down a donation towards a charity, it's often material rather than money, so that way I'm sure that my full donation is going towards those who need it rather than part of it being pocketed.

It sounds like a good charity though!

I sent recently an e-mail to my federal MP asking him to do something about global warming and an other about global poverty and hunger ...

I doubt he'll do something though
He's like a ghost , we only see him around during the elections

 

All politicians are like that.

 

I'd like to think that there are good MP's somewhere ...
And the thing is that he doesn't even have an important role in his party ....
And no responsability ...

Anyways, good politicians exist because good people exist right ?

Actually I see what he's getting act. There are of course left-wing parties, but New Labour and the Tories aren't among them.
