I hate my job. I hate most of the people I work with. I hate waking up at 5:00am to willingly go to a place I hate so much. I have given myself 24 more months and I'm dropping out of society as it is now known. Thats only due to pure greed. I do not recognize the person I have become. Its a far cry from the peace love dove days to now. Can't get high due to the threat of those goddam piss tests. I seriously need an acid trip. I remember what an enlightening event it was my first time in the late 60's. I feel that need for such an epiphany right now. If Teepee is reading this you said you had some info on living off the grid which is what I hope to do, I'll take all the info you can give. What I REALLY need is to get on my bike and just fucking leave and don't look back. I'm getting too old for much of anything to matter anymore. Just hope I can hold on for a little while more......

Sorry about the rant. Thought it would make me feel better. Didn't work.

Don't laugh, but,TRY deep breathing! Okay,go ahead & laugh! It's an easy stress reliever,it's FREE! It helps me when I'm mad at the world! You're not alone in feeling like that.I hope you feel better SOON! p.s. that song in EASY RIDER started up in my head..."flow river flow...to some other...all he wanted was to be FREE..." the tune is all there, the lyrics are but tiny fragments....

Do I understand you? You are locking yourself into a situation you don't like for 2 years because the money is good? Man, you should know best what works for you, but if it was me, I wouldn't be able to stick around that long if I truly hated the situation

I hear you, budman. I have a couple more years or so and I'm gone from the rat race ( just have to stick it out til then for various reasons). PM me too if you ever need an ear. There are ways of coping though, if you have to. It's all a mind game, but life's too short to be too miserable. Some days are better than others. day at a time....day at a time.....minute at a time if you have to. :)

    The Wheel
    ---------
The wheel is turning and you can't slow down,
you can't let go and you can't hold on,
you can't go back and you can't stand still,
if the thunder don't get ya then the lightning will.
Won't you try just a little bit harder,
couldn't you try just a little bit more?
Won't you try just a little bit harder,
couldn't you try just a little bit more?
Round, round robin run round, gotta get back where you belong,
little bit harder, just a little bit more,
a little bit harder than ya gone before.
The wheel is turning and you can't slow down,
you can't let go and you can't hold on,
you can't go back and you can't stand still,
if the thunder don't get ya then the lightning will.
Small wheel turnin' by the fire in the rod,
big wheel turn by the grace of God,
every time that wheel turn round,
bound to cover just a little more ground.

This song just came on as I was typing my previous reply. Maybe it'll help? I don't know, some days I can't try any harder and it all flies back in my face, but thought I'd share it anyway, if it's a message from beyond. cosmic grace to you always.

    Hey,

Let me take away all of your excuses.
Living on the land already paid for .have a bunch of equipment to make it happen. Have some stored food .Have enough temporary living space that can handle about 5> 10 more people. have a bunch of woodstoves. Have a bunch of wood left over from the loggers (treetops and some good enough to build with).
Got only 1 person to work the equipment.
    Whay are you waiting for

Now let me add - I am serious but at the same time not. I can poke along and eventually things will get done - that's why I bought the equipment - If I'm doing it on my lonesome the equipment makes it much easier. But there are situations all over that allow you too take that nose from the grindstone.
Course now I'm a good one to talk - I've strapped mine to the grindstone to pay off buying all that nice equipment and working a 7x job (ah but only @3 hrs./day) so I don't get to go anywhere but the land is there and that's where I want to be anyway.

No matter what's in front of us we can look at the bright side - or the dark side. Some people enjoy looking at the dark side , saying it motivates them to change - Me without looking at the bright side and the great amount of Love that comes over from the other side - don't think I could make it. Life IS and it's an awesome wonderful thing and I give thanks and count my blessings all the time - especially when the going gets rough.

OK - off my soap box - over to the next one and back to you

Brother, I know what you are going through.
I left my job of 4 years back in August. I'm a computer artist (and traditional artist as well). I worked for a self hating-paranoid-controlling-bigot-redneck. He cares not for his workers or his family. I quit after dealing with his BS for so long. He loved playing games with people and putting co-workers agaist each other. He went further to get a spy program that counted how many times I clicked my mouse and what i did off-line and online. Why? Because he was afriad of me. Yeah I made big bucks ($11.50 hr), but I had enough. After I met my wife I started seeing more of this large state of mine (TX) and I found many beautiful places out west. So I decided not only to make my wife happy and move closer to her parents, but to maek myself healthier by rebooting my life. I'll still have roots here, aslong as friends, but I am no longer under that boss's money-grubbing thumb. I think it has been building up over the years. I've noticed people in this area getting snooty and self absorbed. Out west, they are friendlier and they take their time.
We want to live off the grid. we got the land (from my father in law) but we cannot afford to build anything (heck even a trailer), but one day we will. I'll still be working for someone and that someone I found is very kind, and very creative. He's eager to have me help him grow. Granted he is closer to my age, but he's letting me take my time to move and get everything cleared up here. If I could do this over would I? damn straight I would. I feel so alive now. I look at the land and I smile. I control my life and I have come out wiser and I will not let that happen to me again.

Hey I don't know if this was said already, but if you are planning to quit in two years, why not quit now? You are already in the quitting mindset, and work isn't going to get any funner as long as you know you are going to quit no matter what happens.

Oh asswipe, We used the word
Funner, It's not in the dictionary, it's not even a word. I guess home schooling is not all it's cracked up to be.

Hey its ok to make up words...
All words were made up at one time or another...
    Heck, some dictionaries have that word "bling-bling" in them now.{personally I don't use that unless I'm making a joke}

When I home schooled Donovan, one of the exercises I gave him was to make up 10 'new' words for things we already had words for.
He had to use all new letters than what the original name had.
    He could reuse vowels.

Funner is finer with me, than the alternative.
