With communication with others. Seems to be the easiest to me..Although I do talk on the phone for immediate concerns..But I do prefer text almost always
Yeah. I'd prefer to to spend a few minutes banging out a text message than actually speaking to someone on the phone for 15 seconds.
I almost never text. I'm a bit old fashion i guess. My phone is just a regular cell phone with no internet access. I barely use it. People often complain because sometimes i don't reply back, or reply back hours, or days later.
Oh god I hate people like you. Just send a text back. I know you play on your phone too much. And what about these bozos who don't text back on FB. Bitch, I know you flicking facebook screens two seconds ago. Who ya think y'all foolin'!
No Sometimes i'm outdoors enjoying myself, or training for hours. In those moments i don't even think about the phone or who might be calling. As if it doesn't exist. I mainly carry it just for emergencies. Anything can happen in a New York minute. And who'd want to call me?
More often than not. Texting allows the person I'm communicating with to respond at their convenience, so if it's not mission critical, I'll text more often than not. Sometimes I'll just shake it up though. If it's more immediate or I feel like it. With older people I tend to call more.
nope. i don't even phone, let alone text on phone. i 'text' this here, on internet, with real computer. other then saying hi to people in person, yes, internet is my main connection with the world. i mean there IS email and the internet, unless your phone is your only way of connecting. yes, i totally don't get texting, unless maybe its easier to understand in a noisy environment or something. now pictures i can understand, but other then low q photos of immediate surroundings, that's kind of hard to do in real time.
It is really odd to talk on the phone now, actually. When people call, which doesnt happen often i'm like huh? Why you no text? i've always hated talking on the phone so I definitely embraced texting. I do call one friend every once in a while, we got in the habit of long phone conversations after he moved out of state. We wouldnt keep in touch otherwise, he is one of those who only says a word or two via text then stops replying. Other than that, i cant really stand to talk on the phone. My partner's grandma does call me on the phone every once in a while and it really gives me anxiety..i have to let it go to voicemail and then pump myself up to actually talk on the phone before i call her back
oh i understand the avoidance of verbal communication unless its face to face. but that's why i see little point in having a phone at all. i think what would be more fun, would be to draw pictures and send them back and forth, rather then letters and numbers. kind of like okaki boards if anyone remembers what those were (if i'm even using the right word) you know like if you could draw pictures freehand lines with a stylus on your phone, instead of typing in numbers and letters. i think some of the larger tablets you can do that, but they're too big to fit in your pocket. ok if you've got something large enough to carry them with you all the time anyway though. in the winter, my coat, but in the summer, i'd have to have some kind of messanger bag, just to haul the damd thing around.
I definitely prefer texting and/or apping over talking on the phone. Whatsapp is like the new MSN, except it's not just on the PC. Very handy. I do have the signals off though, so I don't think about grabbing the phone everytime the light blinks telling there's a new message in some chat.
I don't have internet everywhere though. So I can come across the same as PureDarkness if I'm outside for hours (and not near a wifi spot0. Unless of course someone thinks about texting or phoning me. But most people I know try whatsapp first these days. Even for phone calls (I think its cheaper via Whatsapp?)
Texting is an introvert's dream. Certain people calling me on the phone don't really bother me, but for the most part I don't answer phone calls. Especially if I know they just want to "Chat." I'd rather chat in person. Exception if the person is upset or going through something they want to talk out.
I rather text a million times over than talk on the dang phone. Unlike many people my age, I HATE THE PHONE! I like messaging on fb and texting, or even emailing. I have one cousin that every one in a while we "have" to talk...but since I'm 99.9% certain she has mental illness, I just make myself plow through those strange LONG calls. The only other person that I honestly have wasted hourS (time I will never get back!!! woe is me) on the phone with is my bff. She will choose certain things and be intentionally obtuse about them. One of them is texting...she had a cell phone when nobody had them. She still has this 20 yr old phone, and refuses to get another one or learn to text. She is proud of her strangeness... damn if I understand There are times she will call, and I let the machine take the call because I absolutely am not able to or am not interested in stopping everything for NO LESS THAN 2 to 3 hours.
I do the majority of my communication on the internet. For IRL communication, I prefer texting over talking on the phone with one caveat. Phone Sex > Sexting
No one (except my mom) tries to chat me up on the phone. Guess they got the message! I don't care about the exception: she really likes talking on the phone. And she doesn't do it too often with me. All bearable You can't have it your way all the time without getting antisocial
That's funny you say that. I think I'm the only person that calls my son to chat or whatever. I usually have a reason, but I don't want to go to the trouble of texting We also text. lol Also, I just need to talk to him sometimes. I believe you understand. We never talk more than 10 minutes - and that is a LONG call for us. Its usually around the 5 to 6 minute length.
