Just got back home today from a week down at Haulover Beach. This was the first time I've been back in 5 years. I can't remember if Haulover was labeled as clothing optional or nude 5 years ago. I seem to remember the signs at the beach entry ways saying "you might encounter nude bathers" or something like that. Now the signs say "clothing optional". The reason I ask is that 5 years ago the beach was mainly nudist, at least that week I was down there. This time there seemed to be many more either in regular swimming attire or even walking around fully clothed especially on Saturday. It just seemed like there were more gawkers I guess is what you would call them. Saturday I'm up at the food truck waiting on my order along with maybe two other nude people and 4 either high school age or maybe college age boys walked up fully dressed and not for the beach. Sneakers, socks, regular shorts, t-shirts. It looked to me like they had no intention of using the beach other than to look at the nude people.
I noticed the same thing at Gunnison Beach. It's a long walk to Gunny, much farther than the other beaches at Sandy Hook, yet more people are going and staying dressed.
Same thing happening at Wreck Beach in Vancouver. years ago, they would ask you to leave if you stayed dressed !
I think the nude beaches in general have gone from the taboo places only the nudists went - to a tourist attraction where people with no intention of getting naked can go and gawk. It’s a shame - they have started to out number the folks that are there to enjoy being nude in the very few places it’s allowed. Wreck is one such place for sure. And it’s really destroyed the vide the beach was once known for.
It is too bad - not saying it’s not a great place to spend a day, it still is for sure but when I discovered Wreck in the 70 it was literally a utopia… friendly, un-judgemental, welcoming, sharing, loving, big group of naked people… all there to spend the day naked and having fun. I still recognize a few faces today little greyer and little more wrinkles but still a hell of a tan… lol Now I realize the world has evolved. But for years people went to be naked in nature. That’s it! Many good people fought to keep it a safe haven away from the headaches up the stairs in the real world. Prevented roads or construction of easy access, so that not just anyone stumbled onto it by accident you have 480 odd stairs to navigate to find yourself there…. To by-pass the hundred other textile beaches with proper bathrooms and concession stands and chlorine pools and life guards to make your way to Wreck - you had a reason. To get naked and forget all that. so if you find yourself there, do yourself the biggest favour you will ever do… TRY IT ! Let your guard down once, forget the fear and get naked and enjoy the day… you’ll be back next week too Without the camera I hope. Because then you will be asked to leave … don’t be creepy or you will be asked to leave. Be open to join in and the world will never be the same. It’s simple really otherwise hit Kits Beach
That is a great pity. The clothed people are obsessed with hating nudity, but go out off the way to find it and ruin it for us normal nudists. But get there rocks off when they find us naked and just enjoying life as it should be. I think they would love to be naked out in the open air but just don't have the balls to di it. I am sure a lot off them even struggle to take their clothes of infant of their loved ones or even to show or bath. This is what has become of society a big thought control and conditioning off one's free thinking mind.
I spent two days at Haulover just about exactly one year and it was pretty much all nudists. Other than the folks at the food truck and selling rental chairs etc, I only remember one not naked guy who was ranting about old dudes ruining all the gay clubs in Miami. Been a long time since ai was at Gunnison, but I do remember it being as more of a mix of nudists and textiles.
