Not trying to troll or anything, but do you think country has sold out? Many of the bands and artists today don't really even sound like country, and after listening to Hank Williams Sr. earlier, then hearing Taylor Swift on the radio.. do you think country has sold out? I kinda do.. it saddens me. :'( Also, post true underground country bands/artists here? Thanks!
Um, how can a whole genre sell out? It's not necessarily organized. (But Taylor Swift is definitely a major sell out) I would also argue that in the mainstream, all genres are blending into generic pop.
I do not think that it has sold out instead it is the one style of music that is growing and gaining far more popularity because of that. I love traditional country as I was raised on that music. Play a little Patsy, Waylon, Jim Reeves, Conway, George Jones, Reba, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Dolly, Loretta and I am going to be in heaven. If you also want to put on most of the new country I am going to be up two stepping as well. It was not actually all that long ago that Alan Jackson was not considered to be real country. As far as some of the younger sounding artists they also have their place in country and the younger people follow them on in and discover the others who are out there, so that is the bonus. I can remember when many established country artists were considered a little edgy for country and today they are considered main stream country so it comes full circle. When I want to pull on my boots if I can two step to it, it is country. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NN50ZU6jVwM"]YouTube - Barbara Mandrell -- I Was Country (When Country Was'nt Cool)
My grandmother and I used to listen to all of those singers when I was a kid. Especially George Jones. Oh my god George Jones is amazing. And Conway Twitty. And George Strait. In fact I think they're the only reason I really started liking music.. lol.
I will post you a few that are my favourites to hopefully enjoy. Keep your two step up as country is going to always be around! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CY6atmveF4&feature=fvst"]YouTube - George Jones: He Stopped Loving Her Today (Braddock / Putnam, 1980) - Lyrics https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2IGdm8l5ok"]YouTube - Conway Twitty - Hello Darlin' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Nh-NsqBsGE&ob=av2e"]YouTube - George Strait - The Chair
Wow, call it fate or something, but those are the three songs me and my grandad's friend played on the guitar when we were at his house the other night. So much fun. :')

You had a kitchen party and those are great fun. Nothing like some guitars and a fiddle or harmonica coming out and good tunes. I hope you enjoy the tunes and don't give up on new country as there is some great stuff out there.
Lol we actually only had thee guitars, no other instruments. All of our guitars were Martins too, we're eventually going to learn some old bluegrass songs to play on them. It's so fun though. Playing music has to be just the bottom line best activity there is. We played from 5PM to 1AM one night, it didn't even feel like it had been three hours.
Yes. I think alot of the new country is garbage. They will never compare to Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, George Jones, Patsy Cline etc.
I can't even listen to the new country, it sounds so watered down. There is something about old country..i love the pure emotion and the rebellious attitude, i think new country lacks those qualities. here is some new country about how new country and nashville sold out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEY8ARSGHTU"]YouTube - HANK WILLIAMS III - Dick In Dixie and one about all those old country crooners https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6B-X6EEiHE"]YouTube - HANK WILLIAMS III - Country Heroes and then just one I like a lot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpP6hIRYOpk"]YouTube - Hank Williams III - Pills I Took - Athens GA 40Watt 10/20/06 thats all Hank's grandson, Hank III. He kicks so much ass, he brings a renegade spirit back to country.
I think Jamey Johnson is the best new country artist out there today. He reminds me of Waylon Jennings.
