Hollywood has shown its true colors by defending this monster. Now many stars are speaking out about this.

However, we all know that there are plenty more Hollywood whores who had sex with Harvey to get a movie deal are still keeping theirs mouths shot. But not their legs Unfortunately

Meryl Streep, as if she didnt friggin know, acts high and mighty after braver more personally involved women speak out. She wants to be the godmother of Hollywood, she should have been the first to make a noise

This kind of stuff is going on all throughout Hollywood, which is not to say that makes it right. All I am saying is that this is nothing new and has been going on for a very long time. Why everyone is deciding to come forward now is beyond me. Obviously Harvey Weinstein is a dirtbag, but Hollywood is full of disgusting dirtbags like this. My advice to people would be, if you are appalled by this kind of stuff, then stop watching Hollywood movies. Stop feeding the machine that props scumbags like this up. Hollywood puts out mostly garbage these days anyway. Very few movies are even worth watching anymore, much less spending $10 on to see at theaters. Fuck Hollywood altogether. This stuff regarding Weinstein is just scratching the surface of what really goes on.

 

The Casting Couch has been well known since 1911. Only in recent decades has the practice drawn the attention of the law. But even then, it's stifled by money or by driving the accusers to ruin. Prior to film the practice was even more common as women seeking jobs in everything from textile mills and brush making to pencil factories and even bomb construction. Only in the 20th century has this problem become what it was all along, an egregious sin.

In any other occupation these days the protections against this kind of harassment (slavery in realistic terms) are mandated by the government. The film industry is one of the most obvious of the long term holdouts. And every excuse for it has been made and regurgitated. Roman Polanski, a brilliant director, was excused by the industry after raping and sodomizing a 13 year old girl in California. The film industry took pity on him since his pregnant wife had been murdered by the Manson cult. The law was not so generous and decided to go after him. Polanski fled the US and has never returned. However, his trail of rape victims continued.

Weinstein seems to have had a similar plan of escape planned and ready to go. He was out of the country before anyone could serve or arrest him. Perhaps he doesn't want to be made a scapegoat. Or he knows just how bad it really is and has simply cut his losses. The rest of the industry is now under a microscope and accusers, many prominent and very visible actors, are coming out of the woodwork. This couldn't have come at a worse time since new movie revenues are at their worst in a half century and millions of Americans are cancelling not only premium cable services, but cable TV entirely.

The sports and entertainment industries used to be the one place we could escape the madness of our political and social structures. Instead, they have become a platform for very 1-sided politics and justification for every social message under the sun. Even cartoons have been polluted by all this "messaging" nonsense. At some point the industry has to realize that what we loved about them was being able to escape our problems, if only for a matter of minutes. Instead, they're thrust into our faces. The industry-standard rape doesn't help much either.

It's no wonder ticket sales are in the toilet and wealth is slipping away as smaller producers are applying their artistry to the online audiences with improving success.

 

I had an earlier post, but deleted it...as the more I think about this, I need to hear more facts. Sounds like Weinstein is a disgusting guy who preys on women in his position, but it also sounds like many women accepted his propositions to further their careers. If he actually raped women, then he should be arrested, given a trial and if convicted, be sent to prison. But, until I read/hear all the facts, I will hold back judgement. I don't believe every man who denies rape allegations, but I also don't believe every woman who claims she was raped. This is why we have a criminal justice system...convicting people in social media isn't how things should be done. I think that if these women had come forth during the time their allegations actually happened, would not only have given them more credibility, but it would have prevented many other women from going through what they did.

The facts hopefully will shape a clearer picture.

 

We should blame the victims and the motion picture industry.

I imagine when you're a young actress just getting started in Hollywood, coming forward with allegations against one of the most powerful players in Hollywood seems like an insurmountable mountain

The vast majority of rapes go unreported anyways, even in situations where the perpetrator isn't incredibly rich and powerful. Weinstein's position just adds another element to the challenges victims face after being sexually assaulted

 

Now I'm beginning to wonder if this is a connection to why so many child actors in Hollywood grow up to become junkies and total train wrecks by the time they turn 20

 

I think part of it could be that, but also that fame really hurts people more than it helps them, I think. Imagine you're famous and sought after for a few years, and then all of a sudden, the calls stop coming. You're no longer that interesting to producers and directors, because someone else has taken your place. I think that happens to a lot of celebs, and musc artists. Britney Spears seems to have gone through something like that.

A 17 yr old girl in London, three times in one night, she goes to the police, they sort through cctv, the perps faces get blasted over the media those perps will get caught, end up jail.

You expect me to believe Rose Mcgowan couldnt have done the same.

Kate Beckingsale said she was alone with Harvey in his hotel room at 17, wouldnt have even needed camera footage if she had gone to the police if sbe wanted to.

Rich and powerful has nothing to do with it, if anything it would make them an easier public target

 

What is interesting to me in this situation, as compared to similar Hollywood scandals, if how everyone just seems to have known about it. These big stars are coming out and saying: "yeah, he's a piece of shit who rapes women, a total scumbag, glad someone finally called him out."

I can see why no one said anything though. There have been many times where I had an unpleasant experience with a certain person, but figured that it was just me and didn't say much, but then when one other person mentions it, it seems like a hundred other people are like: "YES!!!! They are the worst." Not to mention how daunting it must be, as Meliai said, to confront someone so important that they could shut your whole career without thinking much of it.

 

Yeah that's great the police are taking the London case seriously

But there are plenty of rape victims out there who don't get that kind of response.


Either way though,

This seems a lot like victim blaming. No one gets to decide the appropriate response of a rape victim following a rape except the victim. The fact that the majority of rapes go unreported certainly indicates coming forward isnt am easy or simple thing to do. And the crime isnt that the victim didnt come forward, the crime is that the rape happened. That should go without saying but it seems like a lot of people lose sight of that.

Also I agree with what YFM said about not really making sense of it until the same thing happens to someone else. I can attest to that from personal experience

 

Remembering when Rodger Ailles got dropped from Fox for harassing Meygn Kelly& Andrea Tantaros.

 

I think his power absolutely has something to do with it... it was probably intimidating and overwhelming for those young women... honestly I don’t think it’s as easy as it sounds to just come out with revelations like this hence why many sexual abuse survivors take a lot time to come forward...

I’m glad they busted the asshole finally... and I have heard a lot of other horror stories from behind the scenes Hollywood m... someone mentioned Cory Feldman and I’ve heard about his story too... horrible people get in these power positions and use that for their own sick purposes

 

Most of those kids either emancipate themselves before 18 to work long filming hours (they have the money for attorneys) or the parents misuse the money and it's gone one day. Either way they are not growing up with the usual adult guidance. It's a popular conservative idea to blame this on "liberal Hollywood" but people need to look at the bigger picture not just the color of their team.
