Hey at least it gets people to read. I have the same opinion on Stephen King. Sucks, but in a society plagued by TV at least a few people read, and hopefully go on to read better things.
I agree. I love the effect it has on society, but beyond that... an intelligent person cannot possibly enjoy that kind of literature.
Hey now, I enjoy it... it's a nice easy read for when I'm not ready to delve into something deep and ponderous. It's basically a long comic book without the super boobed-up chicks. I'm not freaking out over the new book being out, but I do have the previous ones, good light reading.
i dont understand how reading tripe can be better than watching it. especially when watching it consumes much less of your life, as watching a harry potter movie takes much shorter than readin one of the books, and still, nothing is gained.
Exactly. I could understand reading something that is actually GOOD, especially if they havent made it into a video. I have read and i have seen the Odyssey. Honestly the movie covered everything the text did. and I had all that extra time to play with afterwards rather than if i was reading. I read this 400 page biography on Art Bell one time and it took like two days of straight reading to get through it. THat was the biggest waste of time i have ever done. I still respect him as a talk show host, but reading is way gayer than watching if it is done right.
As a Christian, we feel its wrong to read the Potter books due to the pagan sentiments expressed. Only after reading the Potter books that people went on to read the Bible to know what the truth is could it then be ok but membership in pagan groups has increased due to the Potter books and therefore they are dangerous.
With the way you talk i dont think you could read! (Im assuing that the last line of what you said says you done read it)
