harry potter is brainwashing an entire generation of kids to trust the man... i love the books, in fact im reading the most recent one now... but man does that shit advocate trust in the government and school system or wat...i mean, the only opposition to the man is the death eaters, and they r clearly terrorists that nobody is going to agree with, just power hungry bastards they are...wheres the hippy wizard and witch movement, where are the wizards making potions that FUCK u up... im just waiting for jk rowling to come out with a counter cultural harry potter, it would b sweet...cus the only place ive seen magic in this world is with the "hippy" culture anyway..those drugs make u see alot of shit though

If you actually think that HP is a ploy to get people to trust "the man" then you're an idiot. I guess you missed the parts where they feed the teacher to the giant or light teachers robes on fire. Sneak out of school and break rules till no end. Or how about sneaking whisky and stuff like that? It's a story...get over it.

im just playing, ure probably right...but in truth i think there is a duality in the book...i mean, first off there is a clear definition of good and evil in the book, which is a propogation of a myth that has dominated our race since the jews came out of the desert...secondly the man is clearly displayed as the good guys...i really dont feel like arguing my point though, so ile just give it to u...ure right

and how is teaching kids to obey "the man"? and btw, if you've read the books you'd know that dumbledore bends the rules and allows the charecters to do things that are against what "the man" wants.(as far as the book goes)

actually no. Dumbledore is. But the government of the wizard world is viewed as corrupt as well its leader. And the only cut line from good and bad there is is that voldermont and his death eaters kill innocent people and they preceive it as evil...that's kinda how it goes.

Earlier than that, learn your world religions/history. At least as far back as the Egyptian mythology there was good vs evil, conflict between the deities etc. And probably earlier that that, back before people decided to find a way to record their stories.

Also, WTF? Harry Potter as a subliminal methodology of converting children to submit to "the man". Define who "the man" is. If anything, HP promotes critical thinking, ie your caregivers shouldnt' lock you in a closet under the stairs, all the crap that Dumbledore pulls, that independence is good, etc.

    Me neither...

I don't think that it's a orwellque OBEY THE MAN propagandist book, it's just a over-hyped Piece of crap that will be americanised like every over thing britian has produced.
