How does a person get over severe mental, emotional and physical abuse that has been going on since birth?
Even a country away from the abuser, and they are still invading, attacking, destroying and there is no option of getting away from them.
The easy option is suicide but that is selfish and cruel and painful.
The other option is drug abuse. But coming down sucks.
Dealing with it with a psychiatrist is torture to remember and relive over and over.
Is there ever acceptance? Even when there is very little self worth left and a broken mind. Can one move past and accept that they were treated very badly? Does the pain of being abused stay with a person forever?

I think your shrink is screwing you if they have you keep living that crap over and over.

    Sorry to hear this.

It's horribly unfair that so many children suffer from severe abuse. Maybe there is a way for things to get better.

Do you want to explain how the abuser is still attacking, and why there is no option to get away?

There might be a better way to defend yourself from the abuser, which could certainly help.

You might be able to take legal action against the abuser, including getting a restraining order.

I think that in most cases, there is a way for people who feel suicidal to get better and be glad that they are alive. You might want to check out www.suicideforum.com for more help.

While there can be bad aspects to medication, medication would probably be a better solution than using illegal drugs. Certainly if you feel that you are at risk for suicide, I would strongly recommend medication.

A psychiatrist these days just gives out pills and treatments. You can see a psychiatrist and not talk about the past.

A treatment like electro convulsive therapy might be good for you, especially if pills don't help.

Seeing a therapist might be helpful, but only if there is a way to help you without pushing you to relive the past. I don't know if that is possible, but it might be worth checking into that.

I often recommend the book "Curing Depression Naturally with Chinese Medicine" by bob flaws.

Acupuncture/chinese herbal medicine might be helpful, though it is often expensive, so it is important to weigh the benefits against the costs.

Hope that things can get better soon!

Acupuncture and Eastern medicine did more for me and my Lyme's disease than Western medicine did, as an intersting sidenote to what E said...and I am a big believer in it for therapies, as well.

I don't know if there is ever acceptance. And yeah, I think there's always pain. But Love is a natural painkiller (we literally cannot live without Love). The thing about Love is, you can give it to receive it.

I tried embedding the vid but it won't let me. Hmph
