Feb 29th is just around the corner. Seriously, for a day of the year that only comes around once every 4 years, why isn't this celebrated as a holiday more epic than Christmas, New Years, Halloween, and 4th of July all wrapped up into one!?!?
I think it should be celebrated, for all the people who only have a birthday once every 4 years.. A friend of mine died on that day...for three years we celebrate her life on the 1st march, as she died the day after the 28th Feb.
I agree! I always think that there's something magical about Feb 29th..I think I will organize my own celebration tomorrow!
i'm very excited that we have a february 29th this year. it gives me an extra day to finish my month-end payroll stuff at work.
I heard a long time ago that it is acceptable to ask the man you love to marry you on Leap year only, so ladies...now is your chance....
well in some ways it is. (fugged up i mean, magical no.) we could have 19 solar 'months' of 19 days each, or 13 'lunar' months of 28 days each, with the odd days left over, as a holiday. but even if you didn't have months at all, the orbit of the earth around the sun is not an even number of days. its not an even number of quarter days either. which is why the date of the solstices and equanoxis shifts by an addtional day at least once in every century, and nobody's yet thought to throw in the additional day it would take to correct for that. (the actual length in time of earh's solar orbit is some really odd number i forget. its probably not even an even number of seconds, but then logically, why would anyone expect it to be?)
My girlfriend is a leap year baby. She turns 9 this year. Hence the ski trip weekend. She wanted to do something extra special for her birthday this year, because it only comes once every 4.
I once had a teacher who was a leap baby. He said, "I only have a birthday once every four years, so I'm only seven years old." A smart ass in the back of the room said, "Well, that explains a lot!"
no i'm gonna not watch it like me, who 'boycotts' the useless crap that 99.999% of television is to begin with. (by not owning one nor wishing to) sorry to jump in on that, but not sorry at all.
Despite being right on point, Chris Rock’s monologue will do little good in promoting the hiring of black actors Hotwater
I agree, hot water. It was a bit much. Did any red men get nominated or yellow. It is too over the top. I never saw color like hair length before as much as it keeps being pointed out. I would not have noticed. I do not want to hear it anymore. Strive for your excellence and stop whining. I thought the oscars was too long, drawn out , boring and a mess again. I have to say the most elegant moment for me was Leonardo's win and speech. He epitomizes elegance, imo. Powerful was lady ga ga's performance.
Know what you mean, short of Wes Studi I can’t think of another red actor of note, Iron Eyes Cody (The Crying Indian) perhaps but he was 100% Italian and on TV, and while Asians are inundating our neighborhoods they still haven’t taken over Hollywood - yet Hotwater
^Not an issue for me...Excellence is excellence no matter from whom.....was my point....not a race issue at all.
