Hello! Happy Halmark day!! This is a wonderful, beautiful day, that Halmark makes millions of dollars off of by marketing cheesy, sappy cards! Isn't that wonderful! Doesn't it make you feel all warm inside to know that so much money is being wasted...on paper, that will be thrown away within a week or two at the most? Or the fact that more money will be wasted on candy...which is quite literally flushing money down the toilet. So give your honey a big kiss and then steal their money to flush down the toilet - because that is what today is for! -bird- Have a flower @-->---
I write my own letters for V-Day, and slaughter flowers. And speaking of flushing money down the toilet, how many of us inbibe alcohol, or smoke regularly?
To true to true my friend. But V-day still is pointless. I make things for my friends...just so they don't get hurt that I don't get them anything. Although, this year....presents shall be a little late.
Holy crap. Settle down. I bought nothing from Hallmark for yesterday. Why is Valentine's day pointless? And just because you made your stuff....you are still feeding the hype....so no, you are not better than people who bought a card. I also hope you are making practical gifts for your friends...otherwise you are flushing your time down the toilet...time=money. It is my opinion that people who get angry about Valentine's Day are bitter because they have no significant other...
Yeah, I write letters. I am not on some hallmark boycott spree or anything, I just find writing my own messages to be more personal and more meaningful. But I do have flowers and candy and such delivered.
I did not buy hallmark cards, I bought cards from a local artist and the sierra club and I did not buy candy, I made homeade truffles for my friend/hopefully soon to be more and I got my mom a beatiful book of photography and a sterling silver bookmark engraved with her favorite quote and a bottle of champagnene. I got my grandparents a nice bottle of locally made dessert wine and they got me my favorite english candy and took me out to a lovely brunch. I got my favorite parents at work magnetic or fabric frames with pictures of their kids in the gift box. Neither me nor my friend/hopefully soon to be more recieved our gifts on valentines so it wasn't a hallmark holiday more of a as I put it my card 'I am so lucky to have gotten to know you so far' gift and I have a feeling his was of the same intention. I did recieve a very nice card from my ex-fiance that read-'Lynsey I will always love you and am sorry your heart hasn't found it's way to mine. I will always love you. goodbye Lynsal. love always... ps-please drop my videos off when I am not home and have your mom come by if you want the jewlrey and makeup you left at my house back' That was a huge gift knowing that he is over me or on his way to it and hopefully was out having fun last night as it was put on my mom's car before I got home from work. I got some very nice gourmet gifts from parents and sweet cards my favorite present of all : A ssponge bob card that reads 'You're the spongiest fried I have' Happy valentines day. It's not a hallmark day, it's not even a day for gifts or roses or cards or to show our sweetheart affection. It's a day carved out to take some extra time and let everyone who means so much to us know that they do. And if a coorperation established the day, even for monetary reasons we are lucky to have a day to just focus on the special people in out life. I hope everyone had a good day yesterday and I hope you are feeling better (; lots of love, Lynsey
yeah, I didn't buy anything from Hallmark nor get anything from hallmark... I got chocolate, flowers, dinner and massive quantities of cuddle/makeout time (eeeexcellent) but cards? Nope... I've never felt the urge to buy people cards for vday since I stopped being in elementary where you just got everyone cards (and they weren't hallmark cards either, cuz those fuckers are expensive)
We used to make V-Day mailboxes in grade school!!!! We always got shite-loads of candy and scratch-n-sniff cards... Those were the days...
Yep. Can't stir'em with a stick in/around their stores even today, the day after. Most have a glazed or paniced look...
It's not bitterness..I'm just tired of pointless holidays. Mostly all I see them accomplish is getting people upset. Hah, like me I guess. But indeed I could be considered a hypocrite in the fact that I make things for my friends. Then again, everyone is hypocritic in a way. Truly, I just reread my post and I sound really bitchy. Jeez. Sorry about that. -bird-
i bought a hallmark card. don't see why i'd be cooler to NOT buy from hallmark. i don't estimate my personal worth that way. even if you're going against the grain, you're still dictating your path by the grain, aintcha? frankly i'm proud i remembered to buy one. that's as cool as i can be for one day. just barely remembered to sign it in time.
i think that the reason i would say v-day is pointless (which i do) is because even though its nice to get taken out to dinner flowers candys and the whole nine, but wouldn't it be better if it was done for no reason but that they wanted you to feel special? im personally a huge fan of the randomly doing things to make the ppl you love feel special, whether they are someone your with or a friend or w/e.
People like to have things to look forward to, AND have random dinners out for no reason. Is that some kind of crime? Or do you plan to make it happen only once a year? Because if that is the case, you're just creating another Valentine's Day....only having it on a random date. Feel free to "stick it to the man" though....
the way i figure it, holidays are specifically to fill up dead time. nothing esle happen in february except presidents day.
Which holidays are not pointless? Valentines, Christmas, Halloween Thanksgiving, Labor Day, Fourth of July, Memorial Day etc all serve one purpose: suckering people into spending extra money by creating a need for them going out of their way to have gatherings etc.
