If you are going to hang up on someone, what do you say?

I was ready to hang up on someone tonight and I said I am going to hang up now, bye. I didn't even end up hanging up.

    I think I am nuts. :D

someone called me once about a car I was selling for $1000 and they offered $50...I said "ya right...Im gonna hang up now" ...and did just that

I ended up searching their phone number and found an apartment ad they had...was going to make an appointment ..let them show me the place and offer $50 a month at the end but I'm not that much of an ass

Okay next time I will just hang up! Well, maybe.

I have never hung up on anyone or had anyone hang up on me. So after I said that and eventually did hang up, I sat and figured that you are not suppose to really say you are going to do it. :)

for telemarketers I usually give them two doses of "I'm not interested"...then I'll either hang up while they talk or just put the phone down quietly and then come back in about five minutes and hang it up..it depends on my mood

I put the phone down on the table quietly and let them talk on.

I don't like doing things like that. It's a last resort.

I had problems with someone who would use a filibuster tactic on me as a way of diverting attention away from an issue that was important and needed to be discussed but that he didn't want to talk about. I would simply put the phone down on the table quietly while he went on and on.

I do the same with telemarketers, I am not interested, no thank you and then finally usually say it again and hang up.

This was a person ranting and it was not at or about me. So after saying you need to calm down, I can't understand what you are even talking about, they did not and that is when I said I was going to hang up. Then they calmed down.

I am hoping this is a one off for this situation as normally they are not someone who rants. I really am not sure I could just hang up.

I don't think I've had to hang up on anyone in a long time. But if I did, it'd be like.

Usually it's telemarketers and the like... I just hang up. I will not talk when someone has me on speaker phone because hearing my own voice echoing back a half second after I speak is hugely disrupting to my train of thought- though I'll always first request to be taken off speaker and if the request is not honored I will terminate the call without warning.

Had a survey call (gubernatorial race) which was clearly being conducted from speaker phone to which I made the request- the surveyor lady without hesitation launched into the question without changing the phone arrangement and I interrupted, "did you hear what I just said?" ... and she continued (no phone change), "ya, do you think the candi..."

    heat,
If threatening to hang up and then not doing it got them to calm down, which was your goal, then I think you made the right move.

ive done everything there is to do to a phone when pissed off at people..
ive left them talking and put them in the microwave, Ive put them in the freeze, ive hit them off the curb with a golf club, ive given the phone to the dog, ive tossed the phone as far as I could. ive been driving and tossed them out the windows over water, I have shot them with guns while people were still talking.. i do not think I left any thing out..
