I always see girls with scarves or other cloths tied around their head... kind of like a large headband with a messy ponytail in the back ~ but I can never get it to look right... or to stay! (I like the rumpled fabric look better than the folded band) The only way I can even wear a kercheif is if I safety pin the front in place a few times... I think it is because my hair is very thin & slick. And the cloth always pokes out in weird spots... I've got the messy ponytail thing down ~ I know it might be hard to explain in text, but does anyone have any suggestions for putting on a nice looking head wrap??
I made my own hair wrap kind of like these: http://www.bilaldesigns.com/ I cut a yard of fabric in half (the long way). Sewed the two of them together so I have one long strip of fabric. Then you put the middle of it on the back of your head with your hair over it and wrap each side around your head and tuck it under. It is sort of hard to put into words but if you play around with it you will get it to look nice. I used them a lot when my hair was dreaded but it still works with my long thin straight hair now.
what my friend does is she makes an elastic based headwrap. she takes whatever fabric she likes, sews it in half to create a tube, threads elastic through. while the elastic fits her head, and thus doesn't fall off, the fabric surrounding the elastic can be messy and rumpled up.
