Your hair might be really really short if you try to back comb and I'd guess a lot of them would come loose shortly after. What I would do if I were you, is give my haira few months to grow out and stop conditioning and throw away your brush.

its not possible to dread hair so short hunny, but my advice is just leave it to knott itself as it grows, youd get nicer dreads, try wearing wooly hats and not running fingers through your hair for a while and it will knott as it gets longer :)

Just stop brushing it, wash it with residue free soap...leave your hair alone from today on. It'll knot up so much better than backcombed...You'll have to wait a while and deal with poo hair for a bit, but it'll be worth it. :)

    Good LUCK, baby!

yeah, i would say that backcombing will do you no good and your hair is very unlikely to dread at that length. jsut do what knotdirty said and treat them as if your going for naturals. it prolly wont knot up your hair until its longer though.

when I started mine most people said my hair was too short and I do admit I had some trouble with backcombing but if you want them they will come..
take the advice most people are giving and just stop brushing and using conditioner wash regularly and let them do their thing. :)
it took four months for me to get all of mine done... I don't regret how I did it.. just palm rubbing for the most part and not stressing about how they looked... that was the fun part

    good luck :)
