Haiku thread

I don't know if y'all have done this before but I thought I'd start a haiku thread.

Enormous turtle
Eating pretty blades of grass
Billows, calms the soul

 

i've tried it, once, no one participated. But I love haiku, so I will.

upon a sunwarmed stone
a chipmunk chatters fiercely
the squeak is his roar

 

the trees dance and sing
making everything so sweet
out here i know love

 

First petals of snow--
dogwood blossoms flickering
softly to the ground.

 

light fills the heavens
the sun climbs over rooftops
the cardinal sings songs

Bright white light purges
Nasty things from existence
Lovely harmony

 

the music ceases
silence returns to the room
outside, a bird sings

 

Measureless ocean
Aware of lifes timelessness
God personified.

Bleh, no idea what it means though.

wagging tail
beats against the floor--

Boring rhymes abound
Too many to understand
I'd rather not rhyme

 

dead rose on the ground
weeping softly with no sound
the world will not care

 

Dripping, soaking, wet
Smell of sweet milk and honey
Oh, I love my hair

 

loamy soil
crumbles from my hand--
ground of life

 

Banana Pancakes
Warm and sweet in my mouth, mmm
I want some right now

 

A loss; a bell tolls,
A falling leaf,
In the Autmn of souls.


For my departed sister, Dolores.

I liked it too, it rhymed. I had one that rhymed, here it is (it's an older one)

Rust-red flowerhead
swaying gently in the breeze
Food for all the bees

 

I am very new to Haiku

I may gain an appreciation for this form if I hang around you guys.
