for some reason this popped in my head last night laying in bed.. anyone else have fond memories of this show? we cant forget sigmund
I wrote 2 fan letters in my entire life....one of them was to jack wild from hr puffnstuff ..in reply i received a cheesy postcard that said go buy my new record....even as a kid the obvious drug references didnt escape me..freddy the talking flute was a trip.
That show was pretty trippy (even though they copied a little off of Wizard of Oz). They had a lot of stuff going on in the early 70s. .
Sid and Marty started a new venture last year. http://articles.latimes.com/2008/jul/26/entertainment/et-kroffts26 .
Here's an old McDonald's commercial that looks a lot like Pufnstuf. Apparently some legal problems developed between McD and Pufnstuf. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4JgvTOdhtQ Read some of the comments in that youtube video. .
Sid and Marty opened a short lived indoor "amusement park" in downtown Atlanta in the 70s. It was housed in the Omni-now knocked down and replaced by the Phillips Arena-and had a green ice ice rink,a crystal carousel, and a live stage. Not much local talent hired, one friend of mine went on to be the current voice of Kermit the Frog, but most everyone else was L.A. import. 33&1/3 break dancers, the Rice Twins,Patty Mulroney..and in a nod to the Who's "Tommy", a ridiculously slow pinball ride. It was a bust, what a shame.
"H. R. Puffinstuff, he's your friend when things get rough. . ." Used to watch it ever Saturday morning.:2thumbsup:
