    Hello,
Me and my boyfriend have this dream to travel the world with a horse and wagon (if that's proper english?). This is what I mean:
We don't want to pollute and as for me, I don't want to be very dependant on others for rides and places to sleep.. Is there anyone out there who has done this? At Google I only find people who have done it on vacation, or like we want but restricted to one country.. Our plan is to actually travel from The Netherlands to India...
    Any feedback greatly appreciated!

I guess, when there is no more oil, then people will have to use horses again. You'll need to harness 4 horses on the passes.

here in the states we had an old fellow that was known as the goat man.He did just that but with a herd of goats for well over 20 yrs.. As far as i can tell ,atleast here ,his biggest issue was the large roads and vehicle issues, thus police issues and in some areas finding places that he could pull off for the night to rest safely. Wild dogs or dogs was a huge factor in his travels and several times his animals were both hurt or killed..
we have pondered the idea several times over the years here with doing something much the same . At this point it seems like a tough goal to have, although i know other countries have alot more back n country roads n less highway systems than we do here.. I say shoot for your goals and as you learn , your plans will morph into something feasible for both you n your man ... If you can dream it , you can do it..

Lay in the grass and rest your head. Paved roads are hard on horse shoes. Most days you'll just move enough to find grazing for the horses.Steep hard pull.

My dad's great aunt lived and died in a horse drawn wagon, although she tried she couldn't settle in a house. We've done it, just for holidays and we loved it, but it was hard work.

Few years back I remember reading about an English family who took their kids out of school and set off round the world in horse drawn wagons. They said it was really tough. As Dilli said, wild animals were a problem and one of their horses was killed, they also had to have changes of horses at different points.

It's brilliant for a holiday and it sounds idealistic, but I'm not so sure I'd like to travel the world in a horse drawn wagon, would take an awful lot of planning - as the family who did it discovered.

Hi, because of all kinds of changes of plans, we're not leaving anytime soon! Not with the horsething anyway. We'll probably just go hitchhiking and WWOOFing for a couple of months and think about the horse and cart thing. Email me in a couple of weeks, we might be on the road already :)
