Gypsies steal children and turn into werewolves. I'd stay away from them if I were you. Oh, and I think they drink human blood.

They prefer to be called the Roma, or the Rom. And if you're really interested, here are a couple of websites:

    http://www.geocities.com/Paris/5121/patrin.htm
The Patrin Web Journal - Romani (Gypsy) Culture and History

    http://www.romove.cz/en/article/18479
The Traditional Family Life of the Czech Roma

Also, The Gypsies by Jan Yoors is a really good book. It doesn't romanticize them, but it helps one earn an new respect for them.

I had a book in my younger days called Gypsy Love Magick, I believe. I really liked it!

    Francine

OH and, I almost forgot. I read a book by National Geographic about men following the gypsy route of through Europe and into India, where they think they originated from. Good stuff!

When I was on my way to Tasmania last December, a lady told me I was a gypsy. I always thought of myself as a nomad or a refugee.

Yeah, I figured that. I haven't finished the book yet. I'm about halfway thru.
