I think people who go to the gym are sad losers. I mean.... They aint happy with their bodies are they? They either wanna lose weight or build muscle cos when they look in the mirror they don't like what they see. And they get addicted to it. And what they are actually doin is wearin out their joints prematurely and strainin their vital organs. They r just as self destructive as smokers really.
I wish I could get addicted to the gym. There's nothing wrong with wanting to be healthier. Muscle burns fat and gives you energy for everything else in your life. It doesn't mean that you have a poor self image. Your statment that it wears out your joints and organs is just ludicris and ill informed. It strengthens them. Working out is always better for you. The danger comes when you try to push yourself to something that your body can not handle.
Man I can't wait until I get a job so I can go to the gym, I have reason I'm fat and I would love to toke up, lift weights, go on the bike things(since I like training my legs for easier riding on my own bike) and then toke up again and hit the steam room. I work out already but I would like to be able to use more equipment then what I have at home. All I've got is two dumbbells and I'd like to have everything. Gyms are 1337!
going to the gym is good, and by your description of gyms Naruto it would seem that someone 'cough' has been teased by some meat head or you are the one with self image issues. seriously you cant judge shit unless you've tried it, and dont judge others by the way they look. hopefully you will learn this later in life
For some reason , parts of society seem to have polarised and strange opinions. The western gym culture seems to value overexercise and not exercising smartly. But people who look after themselves are branded vain or stupid by others. Low bodyfat is actually very healthy - but thin people are attacked by sections of society. In ancient Greece , great thinkers had great bodies. I think the best situation would be mixing Western and Eastern exercise cultures. Seriously we'd probably live to 120 or more if we all adopted that approach..
I'm guessing that the OP is probably fat. What wears out your joints and vital organs is being overweight.
The idea is to have low body fat and instead replace some of it with muscle. It's not healthy to be stick thin and I don't know what planet you're on but people who look after themselves are generally more attractive, which is something people rarely get attacked for. Personally I don't like the gym. Or exercise... Disgusting.
Jai , you're what 16(?) so being "thin" is considered normal. But if u read the press , there's loads of articles slagging off "Size zero" celebs. And loads slagging off 6 pack abs as "unrealistic for real people/ real women". Keira Knightley was branded annorexic , just for being in good shape. I believe that thin( with muscle , for guys) is healthy *and* normal. But alot of people brand it as "weird". Which I think is bullshit of em.
I hear stuff like that and I'm pretty sure that's because of how thin they are, not just the fact that they are. Size 0 is supposed to be size 4 here - I'm thin and I'm two sizes bigger than that. If there're women who're considerably taller than me and yet thinner than me, no sirree can you convince me that's healthy. You look at the sports people, none of them are near being size 0.
