    *edit* wrong thread.

    But, yes they are.

But doesn't it generally sound sucky to be a gym owner? Sure, you're an owner..... but a gym owner.

I resolve to go to more parties in 2015. Perhaps even throw a few!

eh, it's just part of the membership cycle they go through every year. it's not like they're suddenly getting a bunch of money that they weren't already counting on to help get them through the slow summer months.

this is just the time of year that they have to worry about providing decent service to their serious members while there's a bunch of lazy people getting in the way on all the equipment.

I've been thinking of joining a new gym because my current one is seriously lacking. I hesitate to make the switch now because I don't want to be one of "those" people.

There doesn't seem to be too many private gym owners raking in the cash. Seems like it's mostly the big-name mega-gyms like LA Fitness that get most of the business from people looking to make resolutions.

Indeed the gym is usually crowded in January. However by next month, people will forget they had a New Years resolution and give up. Then the workout space gets more available.

    Who'd pay for a gym?

    Seriously.

I haven't been hitting the gym much lately...just busy. I've been wanting to get back to my regular schedule but I think I'm going to wait a few weeks until the resolutioners clear out. Same thing every January.

    I hate going to gym's

its so pointless unless you heavy lifting.

I went to a gym for a while years ago.. and everytime I went in all 8 or 9 tredmills were takin, very popular..

makes me think.. wtf you can run outside in fresh air?

or maybe you can use the nice pabs for your back when doing crunches because you can pay for membership but don't own a blanket to do the same crunches at home...lol

Not enough machines. Half of them are broken, and there is usually a wait to get on cardio equipment or weight machines. I've waited 20-30 minutes for a machine on several occasions. Also, they aren't clean. One of the machines has had the same wad of gum stuck to it for the 3 years I've been going to it.

These days I usually work out from home, but I like the option of a gym. It's also very small, and there are no free weights or stretch without being crowded.

Our members do a pretty good job of cleaning the machines after using them but I don't usually spend a lot of time in the cardio room. I'm there for the weight room. We also have a huge pool, indoor track, racquetball courts, basketball courts, etc. I don't use most of that stuff. Maybe a little basketball once in a while. I could do some things at home but my gym is around the corner from my house and I've been a member for years. It's a 30 second walk from my house.

Although I am a disgusting hippie by nature this kind of thing is what keeps me away from gyms too. Not the gum (which probably wouldn't be there in a good gym :)) but the idea of sweat on machines not kept clean by the person before me (let alone if it's even older :p)... :(

use dumbbells and barbells instead of machines and you won't have that problem ;)

Yup. When I use machines, I spray them down before and after I use them.
