I'm curious: What guitar strings does everyone here use? At the moment, my acoustic guitar is strung with d'Addario strings, and it looks like i'll never switch to any different strings. These strings are fucking awesome.

But enough promotion of that; What do you use?

On my Tele Custom, I currently have 10's of some unknown make. I'll be changing to Fender 150s soon, though.

If and when I make my project guitar, I'll use either 10s or 11s on it. Don't know what sort, though...might have to take advice from people on this thread :)

On my acoustics I use Elixir .10's

On my electrics with a hardtail bridge I use DR's which are a half set of .10's and .09's

On my electrics with a floating bridge or tremelo I use DR .09's.

D'Addario are the best I've ever used for the acoustic by far (Takamine, Alvarez Yiari) and I won't ever switch either! The Fender Strat gets 250's and the Gibson LP well, seems to vary but usually gets D'Addarios' also.

12's on the acoustics and 10's/11's on the electrics. ~7

My acoustic had been cracked where the joint is where the neck connects to the base. It was like that for a long time, but sinse it never really looked as though it was getting worse I didn't tell my parents or take it in. I was also kind of afraid that I did it, so I kind of thought that it wouldn't be able to get replaced, then my parents would pay to get it fixed, and I would have to pay them back. But the problem was at the time I was broke and I owed some of my friends some money.

Eventually at one point, my high E broke, and I probably learned either songs with no high E, learned to play around the high E or just didn't play (which is what I mainly did) for a period of five weeks until my friend gave me some strings to replace. I replaced the E and decided not to replace the others. At one point I decided that it might sound better if the other five strings were replaced. I did and it didn't sound any better; in fact, in my opinion it sounded worse.

I finally decided to tell my parents and take my guitar in once the crack started widening and my guitar's neck turned into an acoustic wammy bar. Fuck. I just bit my tongue while chewing some delicious gum. Not just barely bite it, I think I fucking tore another little gash in it about half way through it. Ouch. So I took my guitar in and basically lost my $7 strings. Since I'm getting a new guitar I doubt they'll move the strings from my recently crapped up one to the new one.

What were these strings? d'Addario made for acoustic. It said that it was meant for acoustic's on the box so I'm 100% sure they were. But I know one thing. I hated them. So next time I get new strings I guess I'll make sure not to get d'Addario for my precious acoustic.

new strings sometiems take a while to get a good sound back, after replacing, on acoustic usually too..

but anyway, i use d'addarios, 9 or 10. i cant stand thick top strings, they make my fingers hurt even after playing with them for ages. still, when i go back to normal strings, everyhtings tones easier till i readjust.

thin strings break tho.. and dont have as much tone.. oh well.

I prefer "Black Diamond" on my 12 string. (WHEN I can get them!)
    It's acoustic.

    Martin Lights on the acoustic...
and ernie ball 9 or 10 for the electric.
not sure the brand of strings on the bass.

prefer lighter gauge for maximum bendability.

although it really doesn't matter all that much. :p
