guaifenesin question, in regard to Mucinex DM

I'm going to do DXM tonight, and I have a little less than half of a 4 oz bottle of Robitussin Max strength, DXM only. I'd like just a little bit more, but the only other DXM products I have contain guaifenesin. So my question- if I crush up one or two time release Mucinex DM tablets (so that's at least 30mg DXM and 600mg guaifenesin and at most, 60mg DXM and 1200 mg guaifenesin) will that be a safe amount of guaifenesin? Like I said, I just need them to add that extra bit of DXM to what I'm already taking.

Is 1200mg of guaifenesin going to make me ill? If not, how much would it take to start being dangerous?

 

The first time I ever did DXM I took 16 Mucinex DM's and drank a little bit of a bottle of waltussin which had guaifenesin and the other thing that starts with a p haha but its not good(Only like 5 sips not even half the bottle), and I made it to a friends house, then it all hit me, then I rode my bike home, went straight to the bathroom and puked for 30 minutes, and woke up in my bed 8 hours later sitill feeling extremely neauseated... I attribute it to the guaifenesin because I took so fucking much of it, NOT worth it.

edit: btw all my vomit was bloody and nasty orange with white spots all over in it, NASTY shit, I was told guaifenesin would make me nausious but DAMN, I didn't expect all that

 

guafenesin has never made me puke. i just keep my mind off it. or if im feeling unlucky i take benadryl to prevent puking

 

gauif makes some people puke, others don't. personally i've never taken anything but DXM only products so i have no first hand knowledge. gauif can cause kidney stones from repeatedly taking it, and if you don't know passing kidney stones can be more painful than childbirth and take just as long to pass. also i hear of people pissing out of their ass which doesn't sound fun.

 

Since then I have never done DXM with anything else in it, thankfully that was just a desperate first time to get high with dxm thing. NEVER again

i'm up flying pretty nicely at this point, i'm chewing up the tablet. i'm so far gone.

 

Its probably too late now but crushing and taking 60 mgs of DXM wouldn't really add much to the trip, would it? Maybe if you had 2 of the Mucinex DM Extended Release since 2 of those are equal to 120 mgs of DXM.

 

If I know anything about DXM (and I know everything about DXM) every milligram would count.
I've taken and recommended varying doses for varying people, but it's insane how a seemingly normal dose can be underwhelming, while slightly more can be more than was expected. Especially for your girlfriend... :frown:

So, an extra 60mg would definitely be an extra sixty milligrams...
I know that 300mg can be "meh" while 450mg at times can have me unable to see straight.
Then other times I've taken the same dose and been perfectly functional the whole night (although I still let my friend drive my car. He seemed to enjoy it enough and I didn't want to risk anything unnecessarily...

But anyway, I came here wondering if anyone had pinpointed a general dose at which one vomits from guaifenesin.

I see that nobody has, but back in the day we (my friends and I) took massive amounts of dxm, pretty much every day, for about three years. Most of my friends didn't do as much as me, but I had a lot of friends at the time, so people to robo with were easy to come by.

We began with syrups only, but once they introduced robo gels into the market we moved to those.
Then we'd start taking mucinex with our robo gels, because 1-2x normal dose of guaifenesin is fine (that should answer the OP's question), while the extra boost of dxm would definitely be useful.
But I distinctly remember we used to take about 5 mucinex with our robos, so.... 3g of guaif? Something like that... Can't remember if we were taking 30's or 60's...
We were almost always fine. I have encountered a couple first timers who've yakked, but that can be expected from the robos alone for some people.

On another occasion, I (think I) remember taking 9 mucinex and not throwing up.
Another time still I took 11 mucinex and DID vomit. A lot. So there might be the general range of unavoidable emesis? 5.4-6.6g? 5.4g I was fine? 6.6g I wasn't?
Pretty sure that's how it used to work. I also used to have an iron stomach. Then again, I never enjoyed vomiting, and tend to avoid it, even when it might be preferable...


Guess what I'm gettin' at is we have tons of Robitussin DM and I've been up all night. Took the last of my darvocet, some dramamine, some kava earlier, some cannabis, and still I'm not tired. Just bored.
So I'm thinking...

I could go waste fucking ten bucks on robitussin from Safeway at 5:30 in the morning, but I'm thinking it'd be cheaper to throw up for free...
