Growing with CFL

Is 2 15 watt cool white floro tubes and a 30 watt blue sectrum grow CFL good enough for 1 plant at least for half way through veg. stage, then im gonna transplant it outside.

 

Possibly but growth will be slower. the 2 15 watt cool white... is that like soft white? if so its 2700K, more suited to flowering than vegg. you want a 6400K (color temp) for vegging.

I'd use at least 2-3 of those 30w CFL.

 

Its like bright white in between soft white and daylight.

Im only growing it in here for 2 weeks then transplanting outside. I germinated it by the paper towel method and put it in organic topsoil/garden ph 6.5

I veg using 3 30W CFL "tube" bulbs, the ones that fit in a standard european E27 sockets. I have 3 plants growing steady, maybe not as fast as one would get with more expensive lights, but still enough. Make sure you get really cool white lights (I got 6500K(865)) when using CFL, colour temperature is more important than lumens.. not that lumens don't matter =)

I'm going to try a CFL flowering soon aswell, you'll have results in about 10 weeks if I make it all the way through =)

 

Granted this is an old post, and hes banned......that would have been plenty enough light to get it going for 2wks then putting it outside.
