I have a question, If you wanted to skip the spore print and syringe methods to start a new crop, Could you just grow a crop and once one of your shrooms starts to spore could you simply take it and prop the spores on a new cake that you already set up in advance?
a new "cake"? a cake usually refers to a pre-inoculated medium of growth so spores have already taken there place there. if you mean "can i place them on a casing mixture?" then the answer is yea you can, but i doubt anything would happen. The spores need a growing medium and just plain casing soil/casing mixture (as in 50/50+) will not provide enough nutrients for the mycelium, it will only provide enough nutrients, and mainly humidification, for the pinsets that start after you case them. IF you have a presure cooker, what you can do is take a small 1/4 inch peice off the cap or stem of a fresh grown one, and put that into a presteralized water/karo mixture and it (the next crop i mean) will clone exactly into the mushroom you took it from. cloning from stem cells, hahaha
