How long does one have to wait to build up a decent amount of kief? I just put my first eighth (maybe more) through my grinder tonight. I noticed a few crystals but nothing worth retaining.
kief sticks to kief. once you start building up a collection, more will be collected each time you grind....however don't think you cna just keep grinding and it will keep building. after a while you'll build up too much and when you grind the pot it will abrade agaisnt the crystals, knocking them off the lid and into your pile of pot. the trick is practice and knowing when to scrape. (if there isn't enough to get you and 2 friends high then you can keep collecting)
yer this sounds obscure.. keif is generally known as the little specks of powdery stuff that grows on buds. i dont see how you could get it out with a grinder :S that would jsut mix it through with ground weed i would have thought....
To collect kief with a grinder, there must be a screen in the grinder. The kief is the resinous, cannabinoid-rich tricombs aka "crystals." You can add it to any bowl or joint for a spicy treat, or save it up and make hash out of it. That is usually what I do. I find I get the most kief in my screened grinder when I fill it up about 1/3 of the way. I then proceed to swirl, shake and pound my grinder. The longer the MJ is in contact with a moving screen, the more kief you get.
you don't have to make hash out of it, you can smoke it in pure crystal form in a pipe with a screen. you also don't need to get a screen to collect crystals as they're build in the corners of the lid of your grinder. if you had an affixed 25 micron screen then your kief would be much higher quality, but it's not neccesarry.
Well, all I know is that grinders with screens in them are the shit! I know you don't have to make hash out of it, it's just my prefered thing to do with kief.
id assume you jsut get lots and put it in strong alcohol, then evapourate the alcohol, and youd get hash. alternatively id say you cud prolly do it by squashing it heaps, till it moulds together to become a solid.
Yea I don't know I went to my local headshop and their least expensive grinders with screens were $65 and right now i dont have enough money to blow on a grinder as I don't buy marijuana very often. Usually an 8th every 2 weeks. So I deiced to spend $60 on an 8th of killer bud.
