Hi guys, looks like a lot of new faces, hello to all the folks I used to see for years in the past as well!

I have been in Bogota since June 6 and got offered a job about a month later. Been super stressed running around this huge city of 9 million collecting all the paper work required to start the job in late August, my subpar Spanish and all. But I am learning quickly. I am almost done with the paper work and the key thing, the visa, is done. More red tape than I could have ever imagined. But one good thing is that when I got offered the job they told me I might have to leave the country. The boss has a hotel near Venzuela but thankfully I do not have to go there! The visa officer told me I do not need to leave the country and re enter so I am spared a trip to that country (though I told her I would not have minded going to Panama or Ecuador or something)!

Bogota is a neat city and I hope to get out when I have one of my vacations and see Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, C. America and maybe NW Argentina or Brazil. But for now, it is adapting to Bogota...besides the awful bus system, it is not so bad! There is not really any such thing as a summer (or Winter for that matter) in Bogota and temps ususally remain steady around 5 to 20 C (or 40 to 70 F).

    How is everyone?

High. That's nice. I got a work visa in Mexico and the Dominican Republic. Between the two i spent about two years. Spent the bulk of the time in mexico city and Guadalajara in mexico and Santo Domingo in the Dominican but got to travel and spend time in the country side of both countries. My job took me from sonora to yucatan and from nuevo ;leon to oaxaca. I made time to visit most of the major archaeological sites. I went to the national museum of anthropology in mexico city, amazing artifacts.

Mexico, would love to visit someday. I was thinking of doing two weeks in December but now my buddy is coming to Bogota in December. But I think two weeks is too Little for Mexico any way!

Sounds really interesting and fun, dude! Never thought it was that 'cold' in Bogota most of the year :p Why didn't you wanna go to that hotel near Venezuela? Hard to move around from there I imagine or something? Seems you have some great plans for travelling around there! Hope it works out :)

How long will you be there? Sounds exciting, except for the weather...
