DH and I just got a new apartment that we are still moving into. We signed up with Green Mountain Energy because we love the program and were excited it was finally offered in our area. No one I know has the service.

I was wondering if anyone out there has or had Green Mountain and what your experience was with it?

    Thanks.

Looks like a good program. Is this a fully independent supplier, or is this thru the local utility?
I have WindSource through Xcel Energy, and I am on 100 percent. When NG spikes, I actually pay less.

From what I understand, these programs do a few things: for customers not in a RE friendly system (such as Intermountain Electric Association-IREA) there are companies that allow you to purchase RE off sets: where you buy the same amount of your use (or any portion) and they put it into the transmission lines.
WindSource and related programs don't guarantee YOUR home will be all RE (electricity is electricity once generated, there is no physical difference) but that the same amount is in it's OWN lines. (the other program could have the of sets from Colorado in the Delaware lines)
they also allow utilities to buy offsets to meet state RE generation requirements (such as Colorado's Amendment 37)
