I wish I would've known 6 years ago that green energy was going to be a dead end road. I lost lots of money investing in green energy stocks like Fuel Cell and Ocean Power Technologies. It's an entire industry powered not by green technologies, but by subsidies. If the subsidies weren't there, it wouldn't even exist. Industries that survive solely on subsidies and no profits generally are shitty industries. Green energy stocks are barely worth half as much as they did 6-7 years ago, around the time Joe Biden promised us thousands upon thousands of green-collar jobs, and eradicating dependence on fossil fuels. Broken promises nonetheless. Nikola Tesla discovered how to extract electricity from the ionosphere. But there's no subsidies to exploit from that now is there? [sarcasm] It's better to wage resource wars with other nations [/sarcasm]
The BIGS won't really allow the conversion yet. Not until they can't make money on oil. They will then, I'm sure, be the BIG holders of all things green=solar, wind, fuel cells and the rest of it. It's all rigged in some way anyhow. Back in '73 when the gas madness was happening with mile long lines at gas stations= WE'RE RUNNING OUT! THE SKY IS FALLING! Bullshit collusion between the oil companies. Prices went up and they discovered that they could do and say and inconvenience and manipulate ALL of us. At that point, small startups and larger outfits started to seriously get into Green alternatives. I bought into a small company that was taking Renault Le Cars and turning them into electric cars. Seemed like a damn good idea to me, especially with the uncertainty the BIGS created nationwide. I mean, shit --you ran out of gas and sometimes had to fuckin' PUSH your car forward in a gas line!! So, I bought myself a few thousand shares and watched the BIGS then lower the price of gas to stop these small companies. Worked damn well. Lots of them quit because interest waned ---hey cheap gas again. So---back on gas we went with a vengeance and recently everyone knows what's happened to prices. (never mind the recent lowering of prices--won't last.) A few years back, I bought into a small startup that has developed see through windows that generate electricity, even with indoor lighting, has many patents and could really turn into something. NENE will get you right there. Not a shill for them because this one will either be bought up and closed or just closed like the other situation I tried. Not much an average citizen can do except take care of your OWN house with an installation of solar panels.
Way back around 2000 I invested a few hundred dollars in a variety of green companies. I lost all of it. But I think the future of wind and solar is very bright, especially if we stop electing Republicans who rig the system in favor of oil, gas, coal and nuclear.
But solar panels will soon be (if not already) a cheaper source of energy than fossil fuels. The only thing standing in the way is greed and propaganda from Big Oil, Big Coal etc.
I have never had a problem with solar power. I only have 4 panels and it still pushes back into the grid, does everything we need.
You folks are waaaay ahead of us here. Some electric providers here are wanting to charge people EXTRA--EXTRA-- for installing solar panels because it's starting to cause them to make less money!! Can't win for losing on that deal. Unless you install enough to neutralize your bill completely or send excess back to them. The $$$$$$$$$$$$$$, Always the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Even then I'm sure that they have a few more tricks up their sleeves to preclude us ordinaries from winning.
Soon? You realize it takes more electricity to build a solar panel, than the said solar panel generates in its entire product lifespan. Wind turbines are nearly the same. The only things that stand in their way are cost-benefit inefficiencies. Statements like this are typical liberal head-in-the-clouds statements. However, solar water heaters have proven to have a cost-beneficial purpose unlike the electric counterparts. It's already possible to extract free renewable energy from the atmosphere without any polluting byproduct. But the industries shut it all down. Solar and wind are a scam. http://www.teslasociety.com/teslatower.htm Personally, my favorite form of (existing) green energy is geo-thermal power. Dig a hole deep enough to utilize the heat from inside the earth (and hot springs) will give you unlimited access to electricity and hot water.
Diesel and ethanol biofuels were a disaster. Supposedly green, all they did was cause starvation and deforestation. Only idiots or crooks would promote them as "green". Nuclear, the problem is that the scientists are often pathological liars, and they choose to cut corners and dump radioactive shit anywhere. Maybe the next gen reactors will be a bit better? I think tech-fuels had a lot of overhype, just like dotcoms before them. I'm sure there ARE clean effective fuel systems. Carbon capture at the plants, hydrogen fuel, solar cells, zero emission petrol engines there's lots of options that can be developed.
Oil and coal create jobs! That's what started this country to evolve better and its what built the USA! Until there is no more oil or coal, There is no reason to waste money on 'green' bullshit! Always has been and should/will be, A fall back option when oil/coal starts to run low. That wont ever happen, Too many deposits to keep in business and if you cant drill here, Illl drill across the street and tap it anyway to keep the river of money flowing. The guy who works in the fields, Guy who hauls it, Guy who refines it and the consumer who needs it to make themselves a buck! Nothing wrong with it and that's the way it will always be, And its obvious! You want to cut all them out of the mix and jobs to save a tad by going 'green'? That's pretty fucking stupid if you ask me, But then again, More on the gubment tit!
Green energy technology is a joke when you look at the free energy technology discovered by Tesla, which is now in the hands of the government who use this same technology for their own nefarious purposes while keeping the world dependent on oil. Free energy is very real, and it exists, but it's a suppressed technology that will likely never see the light of day because of its potential to free humanity and end the suffering of countless millions. Plus there is no money in free energy, and one less excuse to start wars with other countries. Gotta keep people dependent on oil while perpetuating the global warming hoax and talk of scarcity and "peak oil."
The US navy apparently has been able to turn sea water into diesel - that's the holy grail of energy independence. But you make a lot more money selling bandaids than cures.
Solar is the future imo. Some companies are already producing panels for 50 cents per watt. That's down from $5 per watt a few years ago.
The only recycling I have seen that's worth a dime is lead, aluminum and some plastics. The simple rule is that if they aren't paying you for what you are recycling, it might be worthless!
I heard a story on npr the other day that talked about how solar energy is growing at its fastest rate in Africa, where many are not hooked to an electrical grid and oil for heat and light is far too expensive for the average family. I thought it was an interesting perspective considering most westerners think the green revolution will be spawned by a bunch of Prius driving yuppies.
I think the big O chevy volt fuck up that cost us millions, Gore and his scam and walked with millions, The good people who got fucked in 'hope and change' and 'go green' when it simply isn't efficient here to go out of you're way for it and minimal cost savings. When its almost a must, All will convert to whatever scam they have at the time. But as mentioned, With all the years and $$ thrown in the direction of power and a source of it using whats at hand, Hard to believe they have not come up with anything for john Q tax payer.
