I've been thinking about making some green dragon. I'm just going to wait a bit til i have a bunch of dank stems and make a liter or 2 of it. But i've never had it before. How much of it do i have to drink to get high? just a taste? a shot? a few shots?
I think that each batch would be different. What I do is I put all my stems and such into a bottle of vodka and let it sit in there, I only add them as I grind. I used part Mandarin Orange Absolut and some Bacardi 151 to raise the alcohol content. I don't plan on drinking it much although I did take a taste yesterday. The flavor is good, you can taste the orange but also a woodey flavor. I let it sit in my mouth and I think I got a little buzz off of that. Otherwise I did not really notice the difference. Keep in mind I was already smoking. From what I have ready about making Green Dragon, most people put in a lot of weed to make it potent. I believe in the long method.
yeah, i was planning on saving stems for a long time and making some really potent stuff. Some of the guides say to fill your bottle half full with stems.....
I'd rather do it with stems myself. I dont really want to put a bunch of quality smokable bud into the bottle. I mean, Long process is much better.
Yup, I am doing it the long way. I am however, just letting my stems sit in the booze. I just keep adding more as I clean my pot. Some of those stems have been in there for over two months. I don't expect to drink it until some time next year.
use bud, or failing that shake and leaf. stems may work if you use enough, but you'll have a hell of a time dosing it properly. go for the strongest spirit you can. THE BEST hands down is 190 proof grain alcohol. if for some reason your location does not allow this to be sold w/out some kind of permit (as in ohio, where i normally reside) then you may substitute 151 proof liquor. Bacardi 151 will work well, but it tastes like shit and isn't worth using in my opinion. i think a better choice is 151 vodka. there is a 151 proof rum made by gosling that i really want to try because they make far better rum than bacardi ever will, but it is close to 30 bucks a fifth, so i doubt it would be viable for a tincture unless you're rich. also, vodka possesses much less flavor of its own, and will not interfere with the flavor of the herb. i recommend 1-2g per dose if you're using good herb. more if its really shitty. dont make the mistake of thinking its a waste. better herb will give you a better tincture, and stems will give you low quality. dont make it so weak that you cannot get high before you get drunk, or you may well pass out. if using everclear or another ultra-high proof grain alcohol, i find that 1-2g of decently strong cannabis is a good amount for a shot's worth of the booze. do not dilute it until it is to be consumes. the cannabinoids are highly soluble in alcohol, but not at all in water. regular vodka is not a good choice, because even 50%ABV vodka will be stubborn in keeping the goodies. use the highest proof you can, and mix it into a drink RIGHT BEFORE consumption, unless you have the balls to do shots of 151 or everclear (only it will taste worse!) also keep in mind that if using everclear, you only have to let it extract for a short period of time. if well ground and shaken regularly, a few hours is more than enough time to get the vast bulk of the good stuff. extra time will extract slightly more cannabinoids, but FAR more chlorophyll and other nast, unpalatable substances, and in the end will actually decrease quality.
the only reason I think its a waste of good bud is because I hardly ever drink. In one month, I'll drink on two nights average. Me and my really good friend, who I hang out with A LOT, arent really heavy drinkers. In fact, we drink probably only 2 - 3 times a month, which is really ironic considering my Irish heritage and his Russian heritage.
its not like you have to get wasted. and besides, the strength of the tincture determines the amount of the alcohol you need. you could easily use grain alcohol and use 3g of very good herb for every 1oz of booze. this would make 1/2oz of the resulting tincture your standard dose, equivalent to easting 1.5g of herb and drinking 1 small shot of vodka. you aren't getting drunk from it. you're relaxing from a very small amount of alcohol and getting stoned off a reasonable amount of cannabis. and if you want to use zero alcohol there are recipes out there for using vegetable glycerin (alcohol free!) to make effective "tinctures" primarily for medicinal use. since glycerin is a fatty product, it extracts the THC well. it takes longer to extract the magic than does grain alcohol, of course, but it is alcohol free and apparently effective.
