Sometime in the early 80s GREED took over and quality started taking a back seat.... I can think of 2 movies off hand that came out IN THE EARLY 80s that were excellent but were quickly edited years later to remove the songs, replacing them with other songs that werent as good.... 1) Vacation - 1983 The song "IM SO EXCITED" by The pointer Sisters BARELY MADE IT IN THE MOVIE!!!! -- When they started making VHS copies they were told to remove that song.. (Royalties) Its hard finding an original ANALOGUE copy of vacation on VHS!! (I finally found one after many attempts (A 1989 print which is wierd because prints from the 90s (AND EVEN THE FIRST PRINT) on VHS were not the original...... I AM GLAD I FOUND IT!)) 2) Night Hawks - 1981 This had 2 excellent songs in it .. One was "BROWN SUGAR" by ROLLING STONES and the other was "Im a Man" by Keith Emerson..... The songs they put in thier place suck and arent as good........ (Again Royalty crap that started in the early 80s) Thankfully I found an original 1981 MCA release of this movie WITH THE 2 SONGS IN TACT!! I tell ya..... PURITY WAS DESTROYED IN THE 80s... ITS VERY SAD.............
I see what you mean , but that doesn't compare with what the fuck's his name (Jane Fondas ex) colorizing CLASSIC MOVIES!
he's regressing. now everything from the 70s is infallible and everything from the 80s onward IS CRAP!!!!
this isn't just artist greed. but producer greed as well. i think. most of the movies today are created to make millions. its no longer about the quality and content. but then again wasn't that the 80s in a nut shell?
Sorry dude, but "royalty crap" started long before the 80's. If the music is what made the movies so good for you don't you think the people responsible for it should get paid? I love it when the rights holders of the music yank the shit if the royalty's aren't paid. Hurts doesn't it? With that attitude you deserve the crappy music you get.
when almost famous was released as an extended version on DVD they couldn't get the rights to a song for one scene (although right now I'm drawing a blank at the scene and song) so the viewer is instructed to sync up the song from another source with the scene. I always thought that was rad.
Some did. There have always been crass, throw-away movies. There are still movies with substance and heart. You might have to find them in the independent or foreign section though, lol
Yes, i know...my brother was into independant films...and some of them are masterpieces......yes, and you are right, there are still movies being made with alot of heart......but alot of Hollywood has turned into a meat market, too....as well.....
I think the expendable is quite good. Good old shoot em up action. No stupid romance. No bulkshit. Just a good action movie. Too many movie these days try to be so complex with tangible story lines and last minute WTF moments. Not the expendableis. It was very refreshing to watch. =]
i guess Ill have to wait til it comes on the free tv channel. thats why i didnt recognize any those ..
It's probably a good movie, I don't know. I just grabbed the first Stallone movie promo I saw, cause he's kinda the proto-meathead, lol I shoulda picked a Vin Diesel movie.
