Who is the greatest American actor of all time? Dont count out versitility. my vote goes to Robert DeNiro. If your choice is not on the list please tell us who you think is the greatest American actor.
I say Marlon Brando...I think Jack Nicholson belongs on the list though(especially in front of Mel Gibson...I mean, really)
Charlie Chaplin, who had a greater impact on humanity than any other actor has ever had, is technically not american but british. Marlon Brando, however, is american, and had a magnatism that's never been equalled in cinema. No one else could lament that "I could've been a contender", and touch the dark pathos of human fate. No one else could cry "Hey Stella!", and ignite an electric charge across the screen of human desire. DeNiro is a fine actor, but Brando is a force of nature.
What about Steve McQueen? Robert Redford? Paul Newman? Humphry Bogart? Brando? Nicholson? Depp? in the end though trying to decide the greatest american actor is about as possible as determining the greatest band ever, it can't be done, and shouldn't even be attempted, just apreciate thier work for what it is
