Ive been searching for awhile for some good IDM to download. I havent really found anything that I really like, Im very picky when it comes to electronic music sometimes. I like venetian snares, but i dont really like aphex twin. What are some good bands?
i actually started a thread a while back asking the same question....but my tastes in idm may be a bit different than yours lol....i cannot stand venetian snares lol...i have been listening to a lot of DERU at the moment, i think his albums Trying To Remember and also Pushing Air are both really good...but a good place to search for some new ones would be at addictech.com...they have plenty of vanetian snares and kid 606 stuff....im sure you would be able to find something you like there...
i tried searching for threads to find some new IDM to listen to but couldnt find anything... i wish more people would reply. i need some more electronic music!

Incunabula and Amber by Autechre are genre defining IMO..Never was much an Aphex fan. You can find windwood from Incunabula on youtube..IMO the best IDM track ever made. After these albums they got a little bit too out there IMO with the whole computer going haywire type sound.
IDM is Intelligent Dance Music. sometimes glitchy, sometimes hypnotic and soothing. the arrangement should follow no particular pattern. Mostly IDM trakcs are midtempo to downtempo, but not necessarily. Is a very experimental genre, and often the label is used to loosely describe electronic music that doesnt fall under one particular category.
Oh that's awesome, thanks man. I was listening to some of the stuff posted on here and I really like it, I found the song Next Door by DERUS quite enjoyable.
yeah Omacatl nailed it. thats a pretty accurate description of IDM. Its a very loose and broad term to define, for lack of a better term, unclassifiable electronic stuff that has lots of different influences and things going on... Ephemeralone - I believe you mean DERU. He is one of my favorite electronic producers of all time.. just amazing, haunting emotions he can create. Next Door is off his album Trying To Remember. A great album.. actually, all 3 of his albums are just outstanding.
