it pays by the bucket... i was talking to a guy the other day about it and he got me really interested, but i don't have my own transport so i'm fucked for getting out there. i've done some planting work back in canada, so i'm used to the early mornings and hard work.

yeah, so if anyone's interested and you're in adelaide, seriously pm me and maybe we can go halfers on gas (erm.. i mean, petrol ;) ) out to mclaren vale or something. there's a ton of work out there if you're hard up for cash.

    peace!

haha.. thanks, first i need to find a way out there though.
i'm actually happy being up early in the mornings when it's nice and cool and dewy... :D it's more normal for me compared to the crazy hot weather you aussies have by 11am! haha... :)

hi sophia. I know the Riverland region has plenty of picking jobs (not just grapes, but mostly) and there are cheap busses that go there, as well as backpackers accommodation in most towns out there. You can take the premier stateliner from the city to Loxton for about $18 one way concession. I'd imagine there'd be regular busses to McLaren Vale also.

Also, pick up brochures and stuff at hostels, they have plenty of info.

Be warned it is very cheap labour however, and i wouldn't recommend it for a living. However it can be a great experience if it's only a temporary arrangement.

Hope ur having fun here in SA!

thanks, imapeach... :) i managed to find some work in the city here, so i won't have to worry about picking for a little while... thank god, my wallet was getting mighty flat there for awhile. if i end up getting a harvest job later, i'm just going to bus out to the site and tent.

    peace,
    sophia
