You can't fucking charge a 9 or 10 year old for a felony, they hardly even understand these sorts of issues (death, consequences). For christ's sake, this should be handled by the parents, or worst case scenario the school/teachers, not the goddam police!

People need to stop leaning on the goddam government to solve petty issues for them; we're in danger of losing any self-ability to solve things for ourselves, meaning we give the gov't ultimate power over our lives...because we're scared. Stand up on your own two feet, people! Parents, take care of your kids! Stop shifting blame and responsibility, for christ sake!

Wow that is so stupid...of course this is the police we're talking about...the police (around here I think) just recently tasered a 65 pound girl because they couldn't handle her!!(???????)

Well, that makes alot of sense. Apparently these kids have some violent tendencies or at least thoughts. They're throwing these drawings etc.. threatening the other kid. Wow, shocking, that's never happenned before. The adults intervene upon discovery and utilize a little scaffolding, some casework maybe if needed. Maybe their just being dumb kids reflecting some things they see and trying to use it to intimidate the other boy. Who knows if it goes deeper but handle it like grown ups and resolve it. That's how to deal with that situation.

Now, take the same two kids and introduce them to our penal system.

Whatever happened to just calling their parents?

This is the side-effect of all the fear-mongering of our current administration. It's craziness...

i guess my friends and i should have been arrested for playing with wrestling figures while envisioning doing those same moves to each other in real life.

this type of stuff is ridiculous...

I don’t think this article tells the full story. Have any of you guys heard of the Columbine school shooting? Have any of you guys experienced or seen the effect of bullies in school. It can make a persons life a living hell. I think parents and teachers need to enforce strict discipline to try to stop the brutalization that happens in schools. And yes, 9 and 10 years old is old enough to be a dangerous thug.

oh my fucking god! these kids are going to grow up to be murderers because of a drawing! *bitch smack to the police*

FOR CHRIST'S SAKE they're 9 and 10, i'm pretty sure they were messing around having a laugh...or they're just dumb and trying to be intimidating

A couple of weeks ago I saw an 8 year old walk up to another 8 year old and kick him square in the nuts. Why? Because he got a goal in soccer. The 8 year old who was kicked had to go to the urgent care. So don’t give me this bull shit that all 8 year olds are angles. And yes, he will grow up to be a murder if he doesn’t get some discipline. Murders all start somewhere. I don’t think we should “bitch smack the police”; I think we need to spank our 8 year olds.

That doesn't look like a stick figure drawing to me. It is very specificly two boys sticking knives into a third boy who loses a lot of blood. There are even NAMES on the drawing, so the dead boy will know who he is.....

That is a threat, IMHO. They may not know the consequences of their actions, but they have probably seen it done thousands of times on TV. Kids are becoming so desensitized it isn't funny.

You people who are outraged by this.....how would you see it if the drawing was found AFTER the murder?? You'd be all "well, they should have seen it coming...."

I never said that nothing should be done. I'm just pissed that the police were involved, which is absolutely unnecessary. This is something the parents and the school should handle. I don't think the police/gov't should be the ones disciplining our children, it's not their place.

And if the parents don't care? As a former victim of school bullies, my experience is that the parents are simply larger versions of the bullies.

Back in my day these brats would've gotten a parent teacher conference, a paddling from the principle and a suspension. Spare the rod and you spoil the child!

You don't charge children with felonies before they are even old enough to know what a felony is. Call the parents, get them some counseling, but don't give a 9 year old a criminal record for a drawing...

Daisiemae makes sense. A felony charge is too much, but requring therapy for these kids should be done.

As for hitting these kids. They probably BECAME violent children BECAUSE they were hit.

Did you know "spare the rod and spoil the child" is NOT from the Bible? It is from a poem from the 18th century. The Bible says "he who refuses to use the rod hateth his son." The "Rod" referred to was a device used to GUIDE and RESCUE sheep from danger, not to hit them. The idea of the passage was that children need GUIDANCE, but NOT hitting.

I ran away from home two weeks before turning 18 and I was on shrooms, so my stepdad sent the police after my ass. I got tasered and handcuffed and I made absolutely no attemp to escape or talk rudely to them. I came willingly and told them the truth. Police are just fucking pricks.

Bringing in the penal system isn't going to solve anything. More than likely that will only serve to teach these kids how to be better bullies in the future.

this is what happens when kids listen to icp, eminem, and 'gangsta' rap.

and everyone seems to have skipped the fact that they are special education kids... they need more help, not get arrested... wtf.
