How will you be affected if the government really shuts-down at midnight tonight?

Would you expect anything less from them?

expectations? Don't accept them. I would expect a snake to bite me, but I'm not going to be happy about it.

Frankly I'd like to see a lot less.
What are the odds that criminal legislators, whose stalling tactics, political posturing, and in-fighting precipitated any shut down would still be receiving their pay while people dependent on a government paycheck (federal employee, military, etc) and the unemployed are cut off?

It seems very telling that most of the budget rhetoric related to proposed cuts centers on social programs and services while little to nothing is said about the wasteful spending, pork barrel projects and the like... the administration forges ahead with its government health care amid a fiscal and economic crisis when implementing such a large expansion of the bureaucracy will increase the need for money.

There doesn't seem to be any meaningful discussion about permanently streamlining how the fed does its business and the whole topic of transparency is a very un-funny joke. So much of the debate and rancor strikes me as contrived- meant to enhance the subject matter to induce grass roots panic at the prospect of losing some entitlement so the scripted "rescue" will precipitate such general relief that no one stops to think that they've been bamboozled into endorsing more "trickle up" economics disguised as wealth redistribution and social justice.

Fairly high odds. They make more in a day than a soldier makes in a year...they may feign cutbacks to save face, but they will still recieve pay, and damn good pay.

The act itself doesn't surprise me, its the lack of concealment in what they're doing.

    That's what scares me.

This is why I hate the teabaggers. They're feeding into it...making things worse. A lot of their fiscal arguments, yeah, I agree with. But their good arguments are buried underneath so much moralistic, parrot speaking bullshit. That's why the government doesn't even have to TRY to trick us anymore or use so much slight of hand.

this grass roots panic is the perfect tool for NWO. As long as we're all bickering about petty issues and running around like lunatics, warbling for a higher cause so that we can feel important and just, we're warming the water for the fat cat's bath.

They can't even see the nails being hammered, and its being done right in our faces.

The solution is deceptively simple: break our addiction to government programs.

Sincerely,it's way past time to break the gridlock and criminal behaviour of this "2 " party system "we" have and start 3rd and 4th parties. I just don't know how it can get done tho, with all the money awash in the present system. The most powerfull have most of the money ,connections and control of the government and we the people. I wonder if this can ever be fixed---it seems we ,the people are the most complacent ,lied to, put upon people in the civilized world.

Indeed-- but we should look in the mirror if we want to look at a principle culprit in enabling this to continue. The population as a whole needs to implement a giant 12-step program to break our addiction to the oligarchs...

Step one- admitting we have a problem.

It's only a slow down, not a shut down, maybe about 800,000 non essential workers put on paid vacation, when they should instead be terminated. We're well along on "The Road to Serfdom - F.A. Hayek". And if we don't recognize the fact that Central planning of the economy even with the best of intentions results in no safety net at all when bad decisions are made, then we are only making it more and more difficult for some future generation to begin anew.

Its like they're spitting right in our faces, saying "No. I don't care about you people."

The 99% of the population that lives paycheck to paycheck doesn't matter. We can't do anything about it because we can't agree on anything.

Let the red ants fight the blue ants while Big Business and Oil and Government stand over us with a magnifying glass. We're gonna get burned. We're getting burned.
