This is totally random and completely off the top of my head here, but does anyone else consider it a little bit odd or has anyone else ever thought about the way we think of the U.S. government as opposed to our own?

None of this will probably come out right at all, its difficult to try to explain but I'll do my best.
See, as Canadians, I've found that many of us "look down" on the american system. I mean, i don't know about many of you but I certainly hear more about scary government conspiracies to take over the world, and them getting closer to a police state blahblah blah....And yes much of it is usually just known as conspiracy theories and scoffed at.....

Yeah, okay so i dont know where imm going with this really.....its just that, Doesnt anyone else who hears about all the scary american things ever stop and think "yeah, how come you never hear about these kinds of things in Canada, eh?" it just struck me as odd today, i mean....Okay, (say what you want, maybe it is a stupid conspiracy movie) i was watching America: Freedom to Fascism today and yesterday and I couldnt stop thinking that if all that was true how are these people getting away with it. But then it all turned around....what if things like that (or other scary government plots) were going on in canada? I mean, when was the last time that you heard about things like that in Canada?? There isnt much info on things like that in canada, it could be gotten away with easily rite? or is our system better than that, making it harder for anyone in our establishment to get away with it?

anyways, thats all i got rite now....Feel free to give any feedback at all as to what you think...I really want to hear it. And I'll try to explain myself further when I hear more peoples opinions.

yeah man I think I get it,
I used to trust the candian government, well I expected the random add campaign, or sponsership scandle, misspending, that sort of thing...........

    but as of late,
I recently returned to canada after bieng gone for 7 months,
now that Im back, I see bigger stores...walmart now expanding to an american like super walmart,
    retail big business malls.....

as well as a military awarness campaign, I mean canadians could always trust that we acted as peacekeepers, and so far morally just campaigns, as kosovo ww2 ect, we will back up our allies and follow the example of the united nations.

NOW, I see suport our troops shit everywhere...since when was that in question?

whats the next move of the harper governemnt?
N.A has followed some strange political patterns lately, mexico canada and The unites states are all under conservitive leadership....which mean pro war

    what the hell?

Im reading about law enforcement givin a bigger bufget to deal with the war on drugs...sorry what war?
thats an american war not ours we allways looked at rehabilitation and prevention, harm reduction, not punishment...that way does not work its FACT!! our way is working why do we need to change it?

this new government is playing good politics.....TOO GOOD
we can not allow them full power

we wanted to show the liberals that they could not get so powerfull, they had to big of a head...butt hey kept our great country free....I personally didnt care if they spent too much money on there expense account.....I probally would as well
I have a job, its easy to get a job. I didnt have to worry about terrorist attacks, I felt good that my tax dollar went to foriegn aid...I didnt mind that our military did not have weapons of attack, but instead weapons of prevention...fuck thats good I dont want them to attack anyone....

so whats going on now is a slow transition to an american way of life....

    LETS STAY FREE!!!!!!!!!!
been to the states lately, its not free at all,
you go to jail for everything,
you are harrased for what you wear, where you are walking what colour your car is...how long your hair is...
and then theres the inset seperation of races.....

I like to think canada is truly a melting pot....
I know there are always racist undertones, but racisim is not acceptable...
    down there it is!!!

    thats fucked
lets stay who we are and nbot another fucking state

Well, let me say this about that...

Maybe one reason that not as much attention is paid to the Canadian government doing these kinds of things is that Canada isn't a big superpower like the US that's trying to take over the whole frigging world.

However, the thing that scares me is that Canada more and more seems to be trying to follow America's lead in a lot of what it's doing around the world. The UK certainly is. So, prepare for the Canadian government to get more and more involved in these kinds of things. I hope I'm wrong about that, but I don't think I am.

It's because of the fundamentally different set of political institutions we have.

A Westminster-style parliament requires much more party discipline, and if back-benchers can't break the party vote, there is no reason to lobby them (one of the biggest sources of "corporate conspiracy theories").

Secondly, courtesy of Chretien, we have much stricter laws about both the openness and amounts people are able to donate to political parties. See the latest Election Act.
