Always they seem to ask the male rather than female about being barefoot.

They tried saying it was illegal and then something about the health department.

I left after the debate. My friend who drove us over said, what if your wearing shoes with dog poo on them into the store or mud?

Forgot to add,she also yapped about the liability.

That's a bummer. I've had several run ins with store employees. So far, always a woman.
It's odd because on the trail, females are the ones most likely to make a positive comment.

Most women give me compliments on paint and toe rings. That day even guys that you and I would call "redneck" complimented me,guns ,nail polish and toe rings is freedom!

This country is skewed a bit.

    How is bare foot any
    worse than skanked up shoes?

Hard to believe it was a woman that had a fit.

What disease do they think you’re going to spread with your bare feet? You’ve walked on the exact same ground as the properly shod prior to entering the store. Will the germs from your bare skin somehow infect the rubber-soled bottoms of New Balance dad sneakers?

Ran into Karen at Walmart today, not the first time at this store.
    A self-checkout attendant again and always a 45+ year-old white woman.
She said "no shirt, no shoes, no service", I had to wear shoes for liability reasons.
    Glass, don'tcha know.

She then ran to get a manager, but returned alone and reiterated her request.
I said she was incorrect about the liability but it was busy, people were waiting for the checkout stations and I didn't want to argue, so I put my sandals on.
I thought it was funny this minimum wage employee wasn't concerned about my safety but apparently about the liability of a multi-billion dollar company.

I've barefooted at this store probably 50 times with three run in's so far.
    Not bad odds.

In the course of 18 years spent using shoes less and less (one single pair of african flipflops mostly) I have found myself in such predicaments three of four times. The first time, we were ousted from a club (yes, all of us! only me being barefoot). The second time I had to whip out the flipflops in a city clinic but I was expecting that. The third episode I remember occurred the last year in a mall in the next town. Spite of the fact that in my town the guys at the same mall only once asked a brief question and then left me alone, there the young assistant asked me to be shod and i dont want to argue with workers. It just makes us look bad and belligerent and it is unhip. Those guys are nervous about their livelihood and this takes precedence over my tastes

An attendant @ a BP stopped me from coming inside to get a soda because she was concerned for my safety since I was shoeless. She did get my soda and bring it to the door. Lol

An employee? Did they make you leave?
Or just some asshole customer that had to spout off?

We will not vaccinate or wear masks because of our "freedom" and ability to choose what us best for us. Shoes should fall under that same logic.
