ok i have a few questions about some kid related things.

first my oldest son aiden lately whenever i look in his eyes i see so much sadness in him and i feel so horrible. i dont know what to do. i know why he is sad his father just started a new job where he works 12 hrs a day to make some good money. i mean the commute alone is about a 45 minute drive. now shane is going on a road trip for a week so i dont know how aiden is going to cope with it. PLUS every night when shane gets home the first thing he does is go to his office and studies for a half hour then he eats and by the time he is done he has to go to sleep. also whenever shane is home it seems the only involvment he has with aidenis disciplining him. i mean the only reason aiden acts up is cuz he wants shanes attention but instead of getting shanes full attention aiden gets a smack on the butt.

secondly my youngest son gabriel he is 2 months and i have been breast feeding him during the day and at around 9 or 10 pm i give him 5 ounces of formula. well for the past two weeks he has only been going poo every other day maybe filling three or four diapers with poo. i dont know if i should be worried or not.

thirdly i have been pumping and freezing the milk in a deep freezer and as i defrost the milk and put in a bottle i have noticed that there is a yellowish opaqueliquid above the milk wanted to know what it was.

fourthly what cani do to help my 2 yr old feel more secure and start making his own decisions and trusting himself more. i give him options of what he wants to eat and watchand play and read but i feel that he just isnt grasping the concept

Well, Q's 1 and 4 I'll leave to the real mothers. But...

#2: Stop giving him formula. Babies under six months do not have the digestive systems needed to handle anything other than breast milk. Formula at this age actually causes microscopic cuts in a baby's GI tract, causing all sorts of problems.

In fact, in South Africa it was recently discovered that if HIV positive mothers breast fed exclusively, their child would only have a 2-4% chance of becoming infected from the breast milk. BUT, if they breastfed and supplemented with formula, their infants chance of being positive increased significantly, because when you take into account all the other benefits breastmilk has, it is actually better to breastfeed exclusively, even if you're HIV positive.

(I know you aren't, it's just a demonstration of how damaging formula is for a baby.)

#3: This is just the fat in breastmilk that seperates naturally. Just shake it, but do NOT skim the fat off, as its part of what makes breastmilk so healthy at this age.

Teach him to do some things for himself- getting dressed, feeding the cat, sorting socks, reading sounds, identifying shapes, etc... having some extra skills may help him feel more confident.

My two cents, also follow your instincts, you're doing fine.

#2 - It is normal for a breastfed baby to poop less as he gets older. Breastmilk is the perfect food and there is very little waste. My baby once went over a week and I was so concerned but my doctor assured me that it was not constipation since it was normal poo when it did come.

#3 - When the milk cools, it separates and the fat floats to the top. Just swirl it gently to mix it again when it's warm.
