im writing this as the polls are starting to close, i was wondering if bush is reelected, any of you European folk know a good place to live? good country, city, town, whatever? i become old enough to live on my own during the possible bush second term, and im not sure if i want to stay here any help or info you have would be greatly appreciated
It looks like Bush is going to win. My girlfriend and I need to leave, too. Any suggestions for visa help?
germany has got very nice places but if i were you i would look for a warmer place to stay like south france which i love very much
south of france....... hmpf. If you think about it go to Languedoc-Roussillon, Toulouse, it's way better than the cote d'azur, much more young people, and it's less touristic! AND DAMMIT GERMANY RULES! if you listen to me: go to germany! Ireland and the u.k are lovely, but, way too expensive! for the visa:http://www.amb-usa.fr must be the same for other european countries... kissouilles moony
i didn't mean cote d'azur. that's way too snobby there but i love provence and all those beautiful towns like arles, aix-en-provence etc., the lovely landscape and so on and so on ... germany rocks, too. but it is COLD
hehe, your right, snobby old people in cote d'azur... provence is nice, but when it's winter....boy. is it boring. germany rocks even if it's cold!
I agree with Sophie, Germany is the place to live Nice country, nice people (might not seem too friendly at the first view, but are indeed really nice), well, the weather is not THAT nice and the price for land or real estate is also high, but this depends on where you go - in Eastern Germany, life is quite cheap. Where I live, near the big city of Frankfurt, but already in the hills of the Spessart forest, especially ground is very, very, very expensive due to the beautiful landscape and our excellent traffic conditions: 5 minutes to the Autobahn (motorway), 10 minutes to the railway (including the fast Intercity-Express), 30-40 minutes to Frankfurt and its airport, one of the world's biggest ones - but absolutely no noise or something, nature everywhere. I love living here
yup, provence in winter, there's no one, nothing to see, (apart from the landscape) and I much prefer languedoc-roussillon but that's just my personnal opinion! I love germany...becoz.........I don't have one particular reason, it's a mixture of the people, the history, the culture..... Also, never saw a country as clean as germany
If it's the government scaring you out of America (and by the way, I fully understand, it must be awful) then you'll probably not fancy coming here, England. Spain voted in a more left wing party didn't they? And there was another country recently that did the same. On the French front, there's the far right Jean Marie Le Pen who does pretty well. I was gonna say the Lake District for here til I read the post, that's the best bit of England if you ask me. But I suppose Ireland has similar beauty and far less involvement with Bush than we do. Good luck with it all man, four more years of him now confirmed, run!
switzerland is also good to live, but it's is very expensive. but in the woods, there will be hippieparty's you don't have seen it, it's beautifull!! go to hippie.ch... frida peace and sorry for my terrible english!
Prague is wonderfull, i am not saying this in a biased way, but it is the most beautiful city in the world. England and Ireland are gorgeous, so is Germany, Hungary, Poland, The Netharlands, and Austria is lovely as well, Croatia....ANYWHERE in Europe is pretty, you cannot pick a bad place to live in Europe. I live in the United States, and I am in college so I will be here for quite some time, but I love it here. It amazes me why people want to leave so badly, so many oppurtunities here and Americans are very helpful to foreigners/exchange students. I have been here for over 10 years, I am an American citizen, it's my home now.
The main problem with France or Germany though is if you don't speak the language you'll have a hard time, also unemployment is quite high in Germany and France at the moment. Ireland is quite expensive but it's relatively easy to get work and the wages are high than in other European countries, you won't get a visa to work though unless you have a job lined up before you come over. If you speak French or German I'd go to them countries ahead of Ireland. The weather over here is shit, it rains most of the time. I wouldn't recommend the UK at all.
Unemployment is high, thats right - but the better your education the easier you get a job, unemployment rates for university graduates are not very high
True, that probably is the case, but once again even if one has a degree if they don't speak german they will have it hard to find work. I wouldn't be impossible but it would be difficult. Auch wenn hat er ein bischen Deutsche es könnte helfen.
I love the British Isles, I would honestly move their if I did not live in the US...it's breathtaking.
