The Quarter After has a neat psych-folk sound like The Byrds.

Why should someone play rock'n'roll of the 60's and 70's when it's 2006 now, I think... I really don't understand why you want someone to be playing old r'n'r when even those Gods of old rock'n'roll don't play it as they used to 40yrs ago.. if you want some old r'n'r, listen to 60's albums.;)

I do! All the time! I just wanted to listen to something recent that wasn't metal, punk, or rap or whatever.

"I just wanted to listen to something recent that wasn't metal, punk, or rap or whatever." if you want to, do it. but I bet there's no band that sounds like 60's band coz it's impossible. it's the same like when you wanted in the 60's some band to sound like 90's band. no idea, man.

Here's even an example of classic rock made by a present band. Great stuff, check it out: http://www.myspace.com/sienaroot

Hm, it seems Sweden is the place to be!

Yeah, but don't look for a copy of that style. Listen to those other bands with no other sound in mind. You should recognize the 70's influences, especially with Blowback, Asteroid and Greenleaf.

Check out Wolfmother... they are a major Zeppelin and Sabbath ripoff.

I find it retarded how most people will either rip a band for sounding like another band, or shit all over them because they don't sound like their favorite bands.

Sonic Flower! Heavy instrumental psych rock from Japan, very sultry, for your lazy summer evenings!

Haha, lazy? Sonic flower is quite heavy. But I agree it's superb rock!
Hey Bart, do you know Earthless by the way? Good chance you dig them as well if you like Sonic Flower: http://www.myspace.com/earthless. Who said there aren't good jamming rock bands anymore!

Yeah, they're quite heavy, but it's very 'warm' music, and I like to listen to them most when I'm just relaxing.

    I'll check out Earthless, thanks!

EDIT: Yup, that sounded awesome, and indeed comparable to SF. I'll be on the lookout for more of their stuff, thank you!
