One of the real success stories of environmental activism is the Whooping Crane. When I was in grade school I remember the angst that the species would soon be gone. Surviving population hovered in the low 20s. I just read that the latest count was 823 in several distinct and less vulnerable populations. Right on. Effort, caring, and concern works.
