I believe one of the perfect American films is Spielberg's 1975 film, Jaws. Entertaining and without the sappiness that would flood his later films (don't get me wrong, he's one of my favorites.) Jaws is a film that you can pop into your DVD player and have fun for 125 minutes.

Two more films I believe are good for any mood are the two greatest rock concert movies: Woodstock (1970) and Gimmie Shelter (1971). Turn up the volume and you're part of the concert.

I would mention Bergman but some would argue he is too depressing.

    Anyone else?

Reqiuem for a Dream? You gotta be joking. It'll leave you in a very depressed state of mind. Now, a movie for any state of mind is this- The Lost World:Jurassic Park 2. Is this not the greatest film ever created? And Donnie Darko, my god. That movie is weird, yes, but it is a downer.

and kjhippielove, you are one beautiful black woman.

From a Spielberg fan, I believe The Lost World is his weakest film. But, it is fun to watch from time to time.

And Reqiuem For A Dream? Depressing yet wonderful. Not for any state of mind but one to wake you up now and then.

    Peace

No. I must state it once again. THE LOST WORLD is the greatest movie of all time.
