eucalyptus glucose drops bomb your system with vitamin c remove yourself from the infection be wary of using public transport it is more often than not rife with germs - winter especially working with the public is a good way of getting sick, people have the tendency to cough into your face.
Airborne - it's these fizzy discs you put in water and then drink it up. contains lots of vitamin c and quite a few different herbs. I was leary of trying it, because I don't like to take herbs in combination in case i react I want to know exactly what I'm reacting to, but DH liked them and I was sick enough to try anything. They really seem to help a lot!
my moms getting all this crazy stuff for helping with colds again we have this bath stuff thats got Tea Tree, Ginseng and Echineacca in it and it helped me when I was getting sick a few weeks ago..
Eat Garlic or go buy some echinachea. Echinachea is usually one of the cheapest herbs @ a health food store. If you feel like spending money buy some medicinal mushrooms like reishi or 'host defense'. You may wanna just do garlic though because you are more familiar with it, and it's more common. Garlic can be eaten fresh or if you get a supplement, get kyolic's brand. Or eat it fresh and take the supplement on top of that. Be sure to not cook the garlic though, allicin and other medicinal sulphur-like compounds in it are very sensitive to a lot of heat. Grate it up and use it raw in guacamole or added to soup or some other recipe you think of. Garlic is a potent anti-biotic anti-parasitic anti-viral immune stimmulant. If you take it enough you will feel better in no time. Drink herbal tea, with fresh (organic) lemon - lemon is great for the liver and helps the body detox. it also contains anti-viral properties with it's high vitamin C content, so it helps clean the blood. it's also very hydrating which is helpful if we are not hydrated and most of us arent. Don't drink tap water either. Drink bottled spring water...you should make a habit of not drinking tap water if you havent already. Eat lightly, organic food with a lot of liquid. Oranges are good. Organic soup and more liquid food than you do solid. Let your digestion rest so your body can give energy to immunity. Blended food is great too. Also just avoiding processed food like hydrogenated oils and high fructose corn syrup and eating more whole foods like nuts seeds fruits and vegetables. ALl those foods have mild immune-stimulating effects and help your body heal much quicker than it would on oreos and conventional pasteurized glow in the dark milk. Breathe deeply, relax rest and watch a funny movie, don't watch the news or anything else that might make you tense or create any kind of stress or cortisol that weakens the body...watch loose funny stuff. If the weather is nice, open a window and breathe fresh air. That should be enough to get you started : )
thanks everyone. I bought some Echinacea and some herbal teas, took 2 tablets of the Echinacea three times a day and drank the herbal teas throughout the day and I'm feeling almost completely well again. I'm pretty surprised because I really thought it was going to be a miserable cold, but I started feeling better almost as soon as I popped those Echinacea pills with my first cup of warm herbal tea. I'm enjoying a new interest in herbs.
and what's so bad about the tap water? I drink it all the time. I don't think buying bottled water is very good for the environment and probably not so good for ourselves as everyone thinks. some bacteria or whatever in water is probably good for us.
hey it's good to hear your feeling better =) it's cool to see a new interest in herbs too.. tap water contains: -chlorine(regulated to be in all US tap water as an anti-bacterial agent, used in world war 2 as a nerve gas and a very toxic chemical in even trace amounts) -heavy metals from your old piping system that leach into the water as the water passes through it and sits in it for long periods of time -other contaminants unique to your own city...my city has fluoride(not the natural mineral, the industrial by product kind) and 2 pesticides in it...some water in the US actually has prozac and trace amounts of toilet paper in it, lol. i'm not trying to scare you or anything...but i just think people should be aware of this kinda stuff... : ) Peace, Avocado
I'm not scared...I wanted to know. But you say city. I live in a very small town. But I'll see what's up.
If your taking echinacea extract, the recommended dose is 300 milligrams (mg) three times a day.For whole herb supplements, take 1 to 2 grams three times a day.Strange, but true.Don't tilt your head back when swallowing a pill.Instead, bring your head forward so your chin nearly touches your chest.Always take your time, and swallow one pill at a time.Mincing fresh garlic seems to be the best way to get all of the benefits of allicin. One-half to three cloves a day.
I couldn't swallow more than one pill if I tried. I'd prefer to just use the Echinacea as an herb, but the pills were the only thing I could find at the time.
